Did anyone NOT like having a savannah view room?

The 7 year old took one look out at the animals and was like, "what ever who cares lets go to the pool".
So we would not use points for the view again..LOL
This is helpful, thanks. While my 4-yr old gets a big kick out of the animals at the zoo, he's gaga for a pool.

Savanah view really didn't do anything for us. We enjoyed looking at the animals when we first arrived, and did take a bunch of pictures. But then the next day, same animals, same pictures. I can understand the excitement it gives others, but it just doesn't push the same buttons for us.

I'm sure we'll go back to AKV some day, perhaps the grandkids will enjoy the animals more than we do. I don't see it ever being a destination, though, when it's just the two of us. Those who really enjoy AKV probably think I'm nuts, but I much prefer sitting out on a balcony at our home resorts BLT, BCV, or SSR.

We loved the savannah view room! BUT, if it's a vacation where we'll be spending most of our time/days out in the parks we wouldn't pay for it again. If it's the type of vacation that you spend 30% (or more) of the time relaxing at the resort and on the balcony then the savannah view is def worth it, to us.

When we bought at AKV, I was concerned about this also. I kind of hoped it wouldn't matter to me (we had never stayed there). After our first trip to Kidani, I was a little suprised to find out that I liked savanah view A LOT more than I thought I would. I love mornings and evenings on the balcony and its now a must do for us. We tried a trip without it and I wont do that again. We also tried Jambo vs. Kidani but we like Kidani better.

But thats just me and everyone needs to try it out. Maybe you'll get lucky and not care so much for the savanah view :)

Exactly our feelings. Dh and I love having coffee on our Savannah view balcony in the morning and a glass of wine in the evenings. We find it very peaceful and relaxing, it is definitely our favorite place to stay.

Our first stay at Kidani was in a Standard View because we couldn't get Savanna View that trip. We had stayed at AKL a few times, always in a Savanna View room so I thought I would be very disappointed to have to stay in a Standard View room. However it was only 2 nights, the resort had just opened, we had fun exploring and we enjoyed people watching from the balcony. But here is the difference: in the Standard View room it felt like we were staying at this great resort with interesting architecture and music and places to see animals but when we stay in a Savanna View room, I feel like I'm in Africa.

Tonight is our last night in a value studio. We've stayed concierge twice (SV), value twice (savanna first, and now pool). We have also stayed in a 2 br once at Jambo, and once in a dedicated 2 br at Kidani. While I cherish the SV, the points savings in value more than makes up for our roof, tree, and pool view this stay. We are close to an elevator, ice machine, and have probably used the hot tub more than any trip -- no trekking through the Jiko/Boma folks in my coverup ;) Wherever we stay at AKV, I love it.

We are staying in a one bedroom standard view at Kidani for the first time in March 2013. I hope I am not too disappointed because I really love the savanna view. I had to make a decision to save points or splurge for the savanna view and borrow points.

Well this brings up something interesting. Is there a time of year that's better or worse as far as animals on the prairie?

I love the Savannah view rooms. My ex husband hated them (he did not like the fact that there were cameras trained on the balcony. (Yet another reason why I am glad that he's an ex :rolleyes1

We go for the value rooms to save points. There are so many great viewing spots to see the animals elsewhere in both Jambo and Kidani. We got a Savannah View once and while it was cool to see them on the balcony, realistically we only spent like 10 minutes each day doing that. We were just busy with the parks, pool, etc. The best photos we got were from outside at the viewing spots anyway.
