Did anyone just see WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

I also saw shows about JK Rawlings, Patrick Stewart, Rupert Everett, Jeremy Irons and others on BBC website "Who do you think you are" UK version. I know they are also available in Youtube or BBC website. The UK version is much longer and I think much better version of the US show. I know they are doing season 9 now.

I didn't know there was a Brit version of this! Thank you!

Maybe Michael Constant was Bob's real father and not Paul Applegate.

My mind did go there. I did not do the math on whether Lavina was pregnant when she married, but even if she wasn't, there is no way to be sure the husband was the father of her baby. Christina's father did look a lot like his grandfather, Lavina's father.

But if you remember the picture she had of her dad, grandad, and herself in the pool when she was younger, I think her dad looks a lot like his dad did when he was that age.

There really is a mystery there surrounding the Michael Constant guy. I need to look at the scene with the cemetery card again. Can we surmise from how his name was placed on the card with the semi colon and then the list of Lavina's family that maybe Constant purchased the plots?

I didn't know it was online either...know what I'll be watching next week!!!!

I did see the Kelly Clarkson episode, it was really good too. She was so excited about everything they found for her, it was really cute and touching just how amazed she was that this was her family.

It's on TLC. My DH have been watching it since it was on network TV. My DH has traced his family way back but my great grandfather ran away from home in his teens and we are stuck and that's where my family name comes from. So huge mystery I'd love to solve, why did he run away? What could have been so bad that he NEVER spoke of his parents/siblings/where he came from at all? It was late 1800's when he ran away.

Have you thought about asking a male lineage descendant of your g.grandfather to do a DNA test and you'll pay for it? I've had several friends who've hit roadblocks on their ancestral rogues find links and information thanks to distant cousins found through DNA testing.

Just watched this online.

Nice ending. Christina's dad Bob finally knew what happened to his mom, and more importantly, that she never forgot him.

I just watched that part again.
The name on the card was "L. O. Constant-Shaw". It didn't say what the role of the person was. It is still a mystery to me.

Just finished watching it on Comcast on-demand. It was a good one. :thumbsup2

Tonight I am hoping to go back and watch Kelly Clarkson's. I have seen all the other episodes prior to TLC picking it up.

Just watched the Kelly Clarkson episode. I really enjoyed that one, too. Although after watching both of them tonight, I feel worn out!

On a side note, Kelly seems like the sweetest person. She shook hands with every person she met on her journey and then hugged each of them when she was leaving. :)

I really like the UK version of this show. I have all the seasons on DVD (bought from Amazon in UK).

If you buy the DVD's from the UK, you will need a multi-region DVD player (I bought mine pretty cheap from Amazon in the UK too). My DVD's also play on our xBox360.

If you search on YouTube you can find some episodes of the versions from other countries. I have seen some of the UK, Canadian and Australian ones uploaded.

My favorite versions are by far the UK and then the Australian ones. While I have watched all the of the US version shows, they are, for me, no where as good as the British ones.

I love this show! I saved Christina Applegate's episode to watch over the weekend. It was so eerily similar to the search I've had for my DH's grandfather. For him I also had newspaper articles, marriage licenses, divorce papers with accusations of drunken abuse, mystery death that had to be tracked down, grave sites to be located. So I really related to this particular episode.

Did anyone notice that there were three graves:

1. Father (Christina's great-grandfather)
Ovid Shaw Sept. 26, 1878 to Feb. 13, 1950

His wife, C's great-mother, who died around 1946 is nowhere to be seen.

2. Lavina Shaw (C's grandmother)
Oct. 9, 1921 to March 31, 1955 (died age 33)

3. Delilah Shaw (C's grandmother's sister)
Nov. 25, 1925 to Sept. 29, 1953 (died age 27)

So the great-grandfather makes it to age 71 or so, but his two daughters only live to 33 and 27????? Wow. We know what Lavina died of, but I am sooooo curious about Delilah.

Does anyone have access to Ancestry.com so we could find the answer? It is bugging me.

And the burial lots were owned by the grandfather (Ovid Shaw) and someone named "Constant." Remember her husband accused her of having an affair/living with a man named Michael Constant? There's a story there........

I don't know that they intentionally left anything out. I think they didn't deal with this Michael Constant person because they didn't have time in the episode. But if I were her, I wouldn't stop here. I'd keep digging to see what other information I could find.

I've got a few of those that I've been working on for over a year now. I keep hoping some new information gets published online somewhere, and that eventually I might have some answers. Until then they are driving me crazy.

I saw the whole season of "who do you think you are" and loved it. I was very upset that they cancelled it. At that time, I found the following PBS website with similar shows called "Finding your roots". These shows are very similar to "who do you think you are". You can watch these shows online. It has people like Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon, Barbara Walters.

Thanks for this. And thanks to those who said the UK version was available online. I knew that the US version was based on the UK show, but I've always been interested to see those. I will have to check them out.

Christina Applegate's episode is being re-run tonight followed by a new one on Chelsea Handler.

Did anyone see last night's episode with Chelsea Handler?

I'm not a fan of hers, but it was interesting as she struggled to come to terms with her maternal grandfather's service and involvement with the German army during WWII.

And Algona, Iowa makes an appearance! :thumbsup2

I did Deb. Didn't enjoy it as much as Christina's but still very interesting. I was amazed how well they were treated in that camp. And wondered how they must have felt not knowing what they were going to face.

I love Chelsea but like I said I know she's not everyone's cup of tea. :lmao:;) It was nice to see her outside of her show/her mouth. ;)

Her mother was Mormon (since passed) and I thought we might find out how that came about - family or mother on her own?

I also caught that the genealogist said that Chelsea wouldn't have been born if her grandfather wasn't transferred to France. But I think her mother was already alive at that point.

I thought I'd bump this since it's on tonight!

I just watched the first three episodes on line and wow, I agree about wishing we could learn more about Christina's family. It seems like they could do a whole series on each of the families...

When Kelly goes to the cemetery and the whole Rose family is there, I'd have to look into all of them, and maybe she did?

I wondered about Chelsea's Jewish side of the family too. They showed a picture of both sides together, so I wonder if her grandparents got to know each other.
