On the site, it says that it's closed for refurbishment. Is this true?
If they don't have Fantasmic and don't have WOC, is it worth it?

Thanks for your reply. :)

I just wonder if it's worth going if both attractions are going to be closed. :sad1:

That is a hard one, but if the WOC that they are still showing is the same one they were showing for the 60th then it is fantastic and to me something that should not be missed. It was a highlight of our visit. Any chance you can change your vacation dates to accommodate the two week refurb?

Only you can answer that.

I'm not a huge fan of Fantasmic and we've only seen it twice. Ever. WOC is OK, but the first time we watched it (despite being way back in a NON soak zone) the mist was sent over us by the wind and I ended up freezing. Second time we watched it was horribly distracted by the ear hats changing colors (I wish the person that had that idea had NEVER had that idea). I think we'll see it again on our trip (just before the refurb) but I don't anticipate it being the biggest deal of our trip.

So those are the LEAST of my issues for the upcoming trip. To me the train is a far bigger deal. The canoes would be a big deal if it were summer and they normally would be open. But not having two night shows just lets us go to bed earlier.

I never got to see WOC last year. :charac2: And I really wanted to see it.
Does anyone know when it will be back? Like not in refurbishment?

Why does Disney charge full price tickets if they have no WOC and Fantasmic? It seems a bit off. :confused3 Those are the two main attractions?

According to this thread, WoC is going to be dark from Jan 19 through Feb 1, 2016. Normally, during that time, F! (and fireworks) is only presented on weekends (Fri to Sun), but WoC is usually presented nightly. While F! and WoC might be down while you are there, at this point, it looks like Paint the Night and Disneyland Forever (fireworks) are being presented nightly. So while there is no WoC on a nightly basis, there may be fireworks nightly (which is very unusual in late Jan).

Are the tickets worth it? I think that depends on how important it is to you. My kids have a 7:00 bedtime that we stick to on vacation for everyone's sanity so it this would not impact us at all.

We went last Feb and the following was closed (off the top of my head)
All of critter country- wall just past Haunted Mansion- this included Splash, Pooh rides and meets, canoes
Matterhorn
Peter Pan
Train
The castle was UNDER A TARP! Which also made traveling to Fantasyland difficult
No fireworks because of Castle closure
Maybe Space Mt (I could be wrong on that one)

All of the area where Soarin is was walked off just past the entrance to Grand Cal to the front, shutting off Soarin' and making traveling from the Grand harder
Grizzly River Run
Redwood Creek play area
The lagoon was emptied so no world of color, plus loss of ambiance
Ariels Grotto

We had a great trip! And yes- full price tickets.

BUT- It was super crowded and we will next be going in June. If I am going to have to wait 30+ minutes for Pirates.... at least let the whole park be open!

There was fireworks when I was there last Jan. However, it wasn't as view-able because the castle was being refurbed. I still haven't booked my trip, so it's possible to book for these dates... Hmm...
But :thanks: for your reply :worship:

I went in late Jan to early Feb. I experienced similar things. I almost forgot that I also didn't get to see the critter country, Matterhorn, Snow White well, the castle was covered up when I was there too, train was not in operation, same area in DCA was blocked off, and I think Ariels Grotto was open (I could be wrong). So I guess it's not that bad. But there was fireworks even though there was no castle. There was F!, which was good!
You must have went to DL when I left.

Honestly I don't see Fantasmic! or WOC being a deal breaker when deciding whether or not going to Disneyland is worth it.

You are the only one that can make that decision. I personally think its worth it because there is more to Disneyland.

At least the fireworks will be shown, and that show is pretty awesome! As much as the refurbishments and closures suck, they are necessary... We were there last February too, and it was a first trip for the family we went with. Even though Critter Country, Peter Pan, Grizzly Peak area and WOC were being refurbished and they never got to see the castle they were so impressed, we couldn't get to everything in a 4 day trip, and they immediately wanted to plan another vacation to see the stuff we missed! So I don't think it will make or break your trip! :sunny: WOC is an awesome show, and I like the 60th Anniversary version a lot, but I could miss it in favor of the fireworks show! Have fun planning!

That's a positive way of looking at it. No WOC or F! but the fireworks should be amazing! :thumbsup2 Do they play all Disney songs for the fireworks celebration?

I really love WOC but its not a deal breaker for us BUT if you are able to change dates and go when it is going on then do it, its worth it.

They charge so much because they can get away with. Even with all the closures coming early next year with a huge portion of the park going into construction, it would not surprise me if they jacked up the prices again. Possibly 2 times. Hopefully consumers will make them pay for it if they try it.
