Just curious, did any of you have the SPG MBNA Mastercard? We had it and were able to gain a lot of SPG points towards stays at the Swan and Dolphin. It's now an SPG AMEX with a $120 annual fee, ouch!

I'm interested in your comments.

I always thought the SPG credit card was an Amex card. We have had one for many many years. It gives us Gold status at Starwood Resorts. I never knew they had a Master card for SPG.

I have the SPG mastercard but I usually use my avion card instead. It was a great way to get extra points though. I don't know if I'll get the amex card, it depends on how many points I can earn.

I didn't have it, but I am tempted to get the new amex. The first year is free (a good opportunity to give it a try and cancel it next year if I don't think it is worth it) The 10,000 bonus is nice too.
I like the fact that SPG points can be transferred so easily into airline program that I already collect in.

I had the MBNA SPG Mastercard for quite a few years and enjoyed their rewards, especially getting Sheraton rooms using cash and points. Great deal. When it was cancelled, MBNA sent me a Travel Rewards Elite card which I don't think I will keep. I did get the new AMEX SPG card and has has been stated, it is free for the first year and you get 11,000 points. I cannot see myself paying $100.00 plus to have a CC though so I will probally cancel it after the 1'st year.

We also got the Amex card for free for the first year. We'll cancel after that. Our primary card is the Avion but DH uses the MC for business expenses ... don't want two cards with fees though.

I don't think we'll keep the MBNA one although we have it for now. I'm considering switching to MBNA Shoppers Optimum card since I don't use the MC much anyway.

I have the Optimum Master Card. Because I work at Shopper's Drug Mart. If you use the points it's an awsome card to have. Book you Disney Vacations and get points for Shopper's Drug Mart. How can you go wrong.

You must have hard the American SPG credit card. SPG Amex cards only became available last month in Canada. Previously, MBNA held the Canadian rights give SPG points.

I guess what bugs me the most is that annual fee. Wow $120 per year just for the priviledge to use their credit card at 20% interest (yeah, yeah.. SPG points I know). With the MBNA SPG Mastercard there was NO fee. My Wife also had a secondary card for gaining SPG points. With the new AMEX it's another $50 per year for that card. So for us to switch over to AMEX it''ll cost us $170 per year just to use it. Ouch! The American SPG annual fee is a lot less and I'm not sure why.

As well AMEX (outside of the USA) is not widely accepted especially in Europe.
