I remember going there as a kid and I took my dd when she was 2 before they closed it down. It was so nice to have a park like that only a few hours away. Wish it were still there.

I was there about 3 times. The last time was about 16 years ago. Too bad it's gone.

Is Geauga lake still there?

If I'm not mistaken, Geaga Lake is gone now too. Cedar Point bought them and took the good stuff back to Cedar Point. Camp Snoopy is at the point now. Growing up in Detroit/spenign summers 1/2 from Cedar Point, we never got over to Sea World. it was always a "we'll do it next summer thing." You snooze you loose.

I remember Sea World! My mom and dad took us kids there a few times, but mostly we hung out across the lake at Geauga Lake...oh- and of course- CEDAR POINT!

I'm heading to Sea World Orlando for the first time and I can't wait to see if it brings back memories of childhood....

Oh Yes What found Memories:goodvibes:goodvibes

I live in Ohio about 1/2 hour from where Sea world was.

We had season passes for many years:) My daughters both sat on Shamu, a few times, We meet many wonderful people who worked at Sea World, The magician and his wife now work ai The Boardwalk at WDW:)

As pass holders we got to attended special events, One I remember is seeing Shamu taken out of water so he could go back to Fl to spend the Winter.
On our trip this year we will be going to Sea World by special request of my daughter to take her 2 year old son:thumbsup2
and we will be trying to meet up with our friend the magician.

Thank you for bringing up found memmories

I lived right there just off the Lake - in Aurora Ohio :) We moved to Colorado when I was 9 but I spent every summer there with my Dad. Both parks reminded me of being home and I am sad they are not there anymore also. We don't go to Ohio anymore unless someone is sick or getting married - luckily we go to Disney every year and SW Florida every other time we are there- a little piece of my childhood :)
:thumbsup2

Of all the Sea World parks, Ohio was my favorite. Small, easygoing, and excellent opportunities for spending time with the dolphins at the old petting pool. I was sorry to see the place go myself, especially since they eventually got sold to Sick Flags (that's where Shouka -- a female orca now at their Vallejo, California park -- ended up).

As others have expressed, I wish they were still around. They seemed the least contaminated by Sea World corporate's seemingly incessant drive to market everything they could think of, and it showed.

Happy travels.

Geauga Lake is now just a water park. It looks OK on the website, but between Florida, Cedar Point, and Kings Island, I doubt we'll ever find the time to go up there.

Here are some pics from Ohio's Seaworld for nostalgia's sake

I really miss it and haven't made it to the one in Florida yet. :guilty:

We live in NY state and took a trip to Sea world Ohio about 10 years ago. We loved the animal interactions and the shows were wonderful. It was close enough for us to enjoy. sorry it is gone.

Living in Pennsylvania, we had been to Sea World in Ohio several times. We miss having a Sea World so close by. However, my husband and I will be going to Sea World, Aquatica, and Busch Gardens in September on our next trip down to Florida and are really looking forward to it!

I grew up in Aurora and visited SW countless times, then worked there for three summers in college. Sadly it closed after the 2000 season, I did take DS there once, but he was only 1. I will taking my third trip to Sea World Orlando this fall. The Aurora park was MUCH smaller, but still had all the major attractions.

oh my gosh! i loved our sea world in ohio! our family were season passholders the whole time it was here. we were there pretty much every day of the season! many great memories! very sad when they closed! have some great friends from there, met alot of people that worked there and also other passholders. my sister worked there for quite awhile, and i did for a year. we are good friends w/bill, the banjo player from the shamu show. i also remember the special passholder events, lots of fun, one of my favorites was the ski show one where we got to ride in the ski boats. i remember in the winter when they had the gift shops open and a little ice rink.

grace & mickey- who were the magicians that now work at the boardwalk? what do they do on the boardwalk?

I so Agree Our family LOVED the OHio SEAWORLD:goodvibes
I remrmber Bill the banjo player, in fact I'm sure I have pictures of him.
I rode in one of the boats too.
The magician was H.P. Lovecraft, he had a show in the pravillion(sp?) near to chidren play area.
His wife is a foutune teller at the "boardwalk' I'm not sure if Harry is performing any more he had a heartattack a few years ago. I going to see if I can meet up with them on our trip in Sept.
We are also going to vist Sea World.
Thanks for bring up such wonderful memories:goodvibes

I spent most of my childhood summers at SW Ohio. We would go 3-4 times a summer. I actually cried when I heard that it was closing. I loved going every year to see Shamu and his friends.

My favorite memory is when I was 3 and when they had the lumberjack show up in the wooded area behind the Shamu stadium. I won a small pine tree. My dad planted it in our backyard and now at 24 the tree is taller than me.

I am excited to see what SW Orlando is like. I will be there in September. I hope it brings back some good memories of the fun my dad and I used to have at the one in Ohio (My dad passed away recently).

Thanks for this thread. I really need to go back and look at pictures from then.

We loved SW Ohio and went all the time growing up...my mom, sister and I are going to Disney and SW in one month. It will be our first time seeing Shamu since our final visit the summer they closed in Ohio and we can't wait. This is my mom and sister's first trip to Disney, but we are all more excited to see Shamu than any Disney character. I was at Geauga Lake before it closed and we could see different parts of the park that were part of the old SW...brought tears to my eyes.

I grew up in MI about three and a half hours from Sea world/ Geauga Lake in Ohio. I have so many fond memories of them both and many pictures of the several trips we took there over the summers. When Sea World closed I was very sad and still went to Geauga Lake up until the last summer it closed.
Ashame it sits empty now except for a small waterpark.
Anyway, I have visited all the Sea Worlds except for Orlando. Now I will be able to cross the last one off my list in one month.

I visited only once, back in either 2003 or 2004, after SWO was sold to Six Flags and the new park was branded Worlds of Adventure. Even under Six Flags ownership, my family had a great three days at the park. We even gave up a half-day at Cedar Point to add that third day and when all was said and done, were glad we did.

As someone else mentioned, the old Geagua Lake is now only has the water park. The ride side was dismantled and many of the newer rides, especially the roller coasters, were sent elsewhere in the Cedar Fair chain.
