They looks so easy to decorate that way but I wasn't sure if you tye the yarn or crochet it. Any ideas? TIA!

I am thinking chirstmas present ideas........

I haven't made them, but DD made them at a birthday party. She says it was a crochet project. I haven't checked their site, but ACMoore might have a project sheet for them - they had flip flops & yarn around the entrance during the summer. We don't have actual directions. If you get desperate I'll try asking the b'day girl's mother to see if she has them....but the girls are 14 & tend to plan their own activities w/o Mom's help these days.

Good luck! ;)

ETA: I just Googled this & found a link for you:

We made those on vacation last week :) They had bought the loops that they sell in Michael's it's like a stretchy cloth. They cut the loop in half and we just tied them on. They came out really cute. Would be a great idea for a birthday party, cheap and easy! :wizard:

OMG!!!! That is it!!!!

Thank you SO MUCH for the link!!! I checked out Micheals too for the loops mentioned. I didn't see them but saw the ribbon and torn fabric ones too. Now I am going to try to hit the summer clearences for cute flip flops.

Now, I am thinking that might even be easy enough for the girls to do/help me make stuff for their teachers for gifts. Maybe end of school year?

Thank you again both posters!!!!!!!!! I don't know why I never thought of looking online at a craft store for directions. I am so glad I asked. :cool1:

I'm glad that's what you were looking for! :) If it helps, DD just turned 14 when she made them and had only crocheted a few stiches before doing the flip flops. She'd been knitting for a couple months - made scarves...that's it - but hadn't really done any crochet. I'd shown her & that's all. So I think it was pretty easy.

Have fun! :teeth:

I've made them with strips of material (3 colors) for dd7 with her cheerleading colors. Another idea I haven't seen posted though, is that you can also make them using small balloons. You just tie the blow up end of the balloon on. I haven't done them myself but some of the moms at our gym have and they are too cute.

:cheer2: 20 days and counting
:earsgirl: princess:

I made them by doing a single crochet around the top. But I would think you could just fudge it if you don't crochet by wrapping and tying the fun fur around. This project is pretty forgiving.

got them for a gift from another baseball Mom.....I love orange so she made me orange and white ones.....love them!!!

She used the old pot holder hoops. Remember from when we were kids you bought them in the huge bag and weaved them on the loom. She just picked the colors she wanted from that and tied them around the thong part of the flip flop.

Have fun!

My girls have made a couple of different pairs of flip flips this summer. I bought the eyelash yarn at Walmart and they tied a knot at the beginning and then continued to wrap it around the strap of the flip flop. I also made them some using ribbons. I cut TONS of red, white and blue ribbons in about 5-6 inch lengths and tied double knots around the straps until it was completely covered with ribbon. They came out really cute.

Thank you all for the cute ideas!!!!

How are the ribbon ones holding up? Do they fray or did someone use fray check on the ends first?

Yeah!!! I just got back from Target and bought a TON of flip flops on 75% off sale. Now I have to figure out which way I want to make them. Thank you all so much!!!! I am so excited to start making them. I even found kids size flip flops for 2 of my DDs and a good friend's DD.
