Did anyone ever bring an aero bed?

Hi all. This is my first post so bear with me. Have been reading the boards for weeks and it has been such a great source of information. Thanks to all!! Am staying at POR end of April in the AB section. We are 5-dh,dd-16,ds-14, and dd-6. Our 6 yr. old will stay in the trundle. Our older dd and ds can not share a bed and it would be tight for dh and ds to share. Has anyone ever brought a twin aero bed or inflatable bed with them? Will it fit in a moderate? We don't mind putting it away back in the box every morning. Thanks for all your help! :Pinkbounc 26 more days-so excited!! :cheer2:

Welcome to the DIS, Kat913!

With the trundle bed and the aerobed, you'd be taking up a lot of floor space in the room. It could lead to some stubbed toes or getting stepped on if someone gets up in the middle of the night to use the rest room and fogets the placements of the beds.

You could always try it, and if you find it's too cramped with four beds in the room, you could always not use the trundle and have your DD's share a bed, and set up the aerobed for DS.

Or, you can do what my folks always did--I slept with Mom, and my brother slept with Dad.

Have fun planning your trip!

Karen

We usually take an aerobed when we will be staying at a moderate. We have 2 teen DD's and I have a DH that HATES to share a double bed (just because he is 6'4" he thinks he needs more space =)

We have a double sized aerobed and it fits nicely between the door and the first bed (however, the person on the aero has to move before anyone can get out the door in the AM!!

We have never used a trundle but I am assuming it would roll out between the 2 beds.

If you had a twin sized aero you would probably be fine with both the trundle and the aero, assuming everyone would go to bed about the same time and you wouldn't need more than a path from beds to bathroom. We just slide ours between the second bed and the wall during the day and it is out of the way and we don't have to bother inflating and deflating everyday.

Personally, I think if it is more than 1 night it is worth the hassle of lugging the bed along....DH doesn't wake up happy if he has to share and the kids don't mind sleeping on the aero...so we do a lot better with a little less night time floor space and a happier Dad!!

Just a suggestion so you don't have to lug the aerobed - 2 DD sleep in one bed, DH & DW sleep in other bed, DS sleeps on trundle?? Just a thought! :confused3

My two DDs refuse to sleep in the same bed so we always bring an air bed with us. Sometimes we have to move the table to get it to fit but we've never had a problem. We just prop it up against the wall in the morning. :flower:

We have a twin size Aero bed that we bought specifically to bring with us on our trip in May. DH and I can't really get comfortable sharing a twin, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to sleep in the same bed as DD6. She is all over the place, and we wind up with hands in our faces and knees in our backs. Last year, we stayed at POR AB, and had the free trundle, so we all had our own bed, and it was sooo nice. This year, we are staying at POFQ, and decided to buy the bed (we found one at an outlet store for $15.00!) so we could do the same thing. I think it will work out nicely for all of us, since DD loves to sleep on the Aero, and DH and I can stretch out in our own beds.

Yeah, I always pack that with my rolling back-pack, cooler, bbq grill on wheels and old resort mugs. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Seriously, I have not but I've known some that do. I know somebody who is more comfortable on that than the beds at the resorts. They are small enough to pack, but they add a lot of weight to your luggage.

Karibeth, I really do not think that Disny has any twin beds. :)

FYI, I think the trundle bed is under the double closest to the door. It rolls out very near the door, not between the beds.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions-I think we will shlep the bed so that everyone will be comfortable. Could always keep it in the box if we end up not needing it. :disrocks:

Yes, we took a Queen Aero Bed just last month for our stay at Carribean Beach Resort (I guess the rooms are a little bigger there than at the other moderates).
We also have a teen daughter and a teen son, so we needed it for that reason.
The bed fit nicely when we moved the table over.
I'm not sure how much smaller the rooms are at POR than at CBR, so I don't know how the fit would be for the mattress in a POR room.

We just put it in a large duffel bag and "checked" it as luggage.

Wow-you fit a queen? I'm pretty sure the rooms at CBR and POR are both 314sq. feet. Anyone know if that is right? I was going to buy a twin, but I already own a full maybe we could fit it.

CBR rooms are 340 sq ft. It was the first mod resort, they made the others 314.

I believe all the moderates are the same size.

We used either a double or a queen - it was my mom's - at CSR last year. We didn't have any trouble with it - BUT - I don't think there would be room for a double AND a trundle. So stick with the twin.

It was wonderful! My DH and I CANNOT sleep well together on a full!

We took our Queen bed with us (we drove so had plenty of room, it comes with its own blow up pump).

We stayed at PoP Century and just moved the table over and it fit nicely. During the day we kept it blowed up, just propped it against the wall.

My kids actually fought over who got to sleep on it at night~~!!

It is a well-known fact on the Resort Board that the CBR has larger rooms since it was the first Moderate built. CBR rooms are 340 and the other mods are 314, but if you don't believe Kae and I you could always call each resort individually and inquire about the size of the rooms. Granted, I did not take measuring tape with me and measure the room, but I have read several times on this board that CBR has the biggest rooms of all mods.

Yes, we took a Queen Aerobed and it fit nicely in our CBR room.

I don't think you can really even fit the Aero bed with the trundle bed out?? I have been there with the trundle. I do know that you can fit a full/queen areo bed if you push both beds to the side & stick the areo in the middle. I have done that, but couldn't do it with the trundle..there was no place to pull out the trundle. Maybe if you were pulling out the trundle & had a twin area & placed it near the bathroom area?? Or another way way be to pull the trundle out to the door area as far as it goes & then push the beds as far as they can spread apart & try a twin areo in the middle of the full beds... you will not be able to get out of bed from either side without stepping on someone unless you climb out towards the bottom of the bed. What about your son on the trudle as another poser said. I use to do that there.. I have (ages now) DS 18, DD's 16 & 12. DD's would sleep together & son on the trundle. When I would go with out DH, I would bring the air mattress & DS would sleep on that, me in one bed & DD's in the other..

Thank you! I meant double!!!!!!!!!! They just feel as small as a twin when I have to share them with DD! :)

Hi
Since I have a teenage boy and girl we bring a air mattress for my son. He doesn't mind sleeping on it. We're stayed at the Dolphin 3 times with no problems.( It sure beats spending $25.00 a night for a cot). We also take a foldable cooler and just use ziplock bags for the ice. The kids empty the bags twice a day and refill them at the ice machine. This to is a savings from renting a refrig.

I hope this helps. :wizard:
