Did anyone else have problems with Walgreens Free 8x10?

I picked up my photos last night. I got the free 8x10 and 50 4x6 prints for the price of 25.
I haven't ordered pictures from Walgreens in a long time. I ordered the pictures from my Photopass CD which I have never done before.

The color was strange and some of the borders were chopped off. On the 8x10 the border was completely chopped at the bottom and the color of the sky was all grainy and pixelated. The color of our faces was all washed out and funny looking. On the 4x6 pictures most of the borders were chopped and the color was iffy but not horrible. I wish I had a scanner so you could see just how bad these are.

I plan on returning these but since I have never ordered Photopass pictures before I wasn't sure how they are supposed to turn out. I was assuming these would be good quality pictures? I don't want to blame Walgreens if it was the fault of Photopass, but I find it hard to believe Disney would give out crappy pictures with their name on it?

Where should I get these reprinted at?

Mine came out the same way. Borders cut off and very grainy. It was free so (I only ordered the free 8X10) I will keep it but I would not pay for it!

Hi! I did not order the Walgreen's prints but have printed Photopass pictures (at wallet size, snapshot size, 5x7, and 8x10) from both of our trips and the borders are always partially cut off. I have yet to have a border print in its entirety. I think this is a very common thing that happens unless you buy your prints via the Photopass site (I have read where others had this happen as well) or if you do not save them in a specific manner on the PP website when you apply the borders. My last PP print job was at Sam's Club (prints and enlargements from our 2008 trip, printed in early 2009) and I had nearly $60.00 worth of prints, wallets, and enlargements and not one has a complete border on it! As far as for the quality/color of my Photopass pictures... they print pretty much like the ones taken with your own digital camera would. None of mine were professional looking, but were very nice pictures! I have had PP pictures printed at Sam's Club, Walmart, and CVS. Sam's and Walmart will want a copy of your PP release (they always have mine). I keep a printed copy right inside my PP CD case! :thumbsup2

The problem wasn't with the photpass pictures (technically) or Walgreens. I was very surprised at how nice Walgreen's prints were the last time I used them.

The problem was how you saved the prints to your photopass account and then printed them differently. When you save a border to your PP account picture, it saves it to a specific size print (5x7 I think) so when you print out a 4x6, portions of the edge are cut off. If you print it out at an 8x10 size, it will be very grainy and still have edges cut off since 5x7 does not an 8x10 make without cutting some off.

You ahve to be very careful when you are adding borders to your account, check the size of the picture you are looking at and change it to whatever size you want to print at and then add the border you want. If you don't do that, then all of your prints will either be chopped funny or very grainy. Next time that you upload a picture, check to see what the crop will look like, it probably won't fit. If you think you will be printing 4x6 pictures, then you need to look at a 4x6 photo size online and then add the border to it.

Thanks that's probably what happened! I will have to remember that for next time. How annoying!

This has been happening to regular pictures too. I sent one to Walgreens for an 8x10 and the second you enlarge it, it cropps the sides. For a 4x6 you have most of your picture and then when you go up a size it cuts a little more off and then by the time you go to an 8x10 it cuts the most off! My Mother-in-laws arms were completely cut out of one of our wedding pictures!!!

What we did to remedy the situation was to use Powerpoint. I inserted a picture into power point and enlarged it so that it took up most of the slide (but still had white space around it) and saved the slide to a JPG.

Once uploaded to Walgreens (Wal-Mart cuts borders off now too!), it wasn't pixelated and the borders weren't cut off.
