Did anyone else buy this piece of junk?
Well I know y'all probably wouldnt as we recognize junk when we see it, but my DH did not. He went to the mall on the 17th and saw a kiosk that had what was called "Power Player Super Joystick". Basically it is an old Nintendo controller, with about 70 games buitl into it. You hook it up to any TV via AV plugs. He paid $60 for this thing! The kids played with it for 30 minutes and it is already acting up. It is very cheaply made. I tell my DH that it needs to go back as it is not even worth $20 let alone $60! He digs the receipt out, guess what? No refunds, exchanges only within 1st 10 days!!!! Poor poor DH he just does not know the rules of shopping, and he was so proud of this gift! I am disappointed that our mall would allow this business to run a kiosk like this? Most people would buy these things for Christmas gifts, where they are going to sit under a tree for more than 10 days, how can they say no refunds???

correction, just my DH:tongue: LOL

Oh and PopDaddy, was that a super joystick you have, or a magicstick? :)

One of my brothers got a joystick that had about 10 old Atari games on it. All the 'boys' played it and, Loved It! Brought back some hysterical memories.

Did you know that most places have only a 15 day return on electronics, including WalMart?
After much digging this year we had gotten polices of stores and it was an eye opener!

No I didnt know that! It seems that there would be an exception at Christmastime. Oh well, I told DH he cant go toy shopping without me form now on ! LOL I also told him to NEVER buy anything that says no refunds. The only time I have ever seen a no refund sign was for a store that was going out of business, to whicc I could understand. Ah well, lesson learned for my DH. I will try to exchange it tommorrow since the one we have is already messing up. SIGH

If it truly is acting up, you can try contacting the manufacturer for a replacement.

My DBIL got the atari one and he loves it. He was playing Centipede and Asteroids all day!

I got the one for my DS that has all the old Intellivison games in it. I used to have that system and was pretty good at it. :p My son plugged it in, couldn't figure out (at least for a few minutes!!) how to use it. Here comes Mom....and whoops his tail!! :teeth: He was amazed that someone as old as me could actually play video games!!! :bounce:

I did get one of those for Christmas...I simply mentioned to DH that I thought it was cool one day, and he took it as, "I want it for Christmas." Anyway, I haven't played with it at all yet.

I always hesitate to buy anything from a kiosk at this time of year, unless it's one that's there year round...it seems like the day after Christmas, they have all abandoned ship.

You might try your mall office to see what they can do. One of our local malls has a satisfaction guaranteed policy with purchases made anywhere in the mall. They make good on "non-returnable" items from kiosks and other stores in the mall.

DS and DH got the Atari one ($20 at Target).
So far they are enjoying it.
DH loves all the "old" games. They are his favorites.....

hmm good suggestion, I had not even thought of this. I am going to try to head over there to today, to first see if this kiosk as still, around, but as Aurora said they have probably hit the wind running. Thanks for the idea :)

Tomorrow will be your 10 th day if he bought it the 17th. Take it backa nd exchange it. Who know maybe another will work okay. Sorry about the no refunds. I was out shopping with my oldest ds once when he saw something in a store he wanted. Well then we went to another store and he found something he liked even better. So went back to the first store to see if we could return the item and they said no--no refunds. We had only had the item about 20 minutes so of course it was unopened and not used. I thought it was dumb but it was their policy.

I have to disagree that your husband made a bad choice as to buying a video game - now the quality and the fact it had a "no returns" is another thing. We have one of those kiosks in our local mall too. I have been seeing that game there for several weeks and thought "How neat!" I love those old classic games. I thought $59 was a pretty good price for a game player with so many games included. Now, of course, if it breaks down quickly, it is NOT a good bargain.

I would take it back and ask for money because it does not work.

Check to see if your state consumer laws have "implied warranty fo fitness" Basically something has to be good for the purpose for which it was intended. Games that don't work etc.. You may be entitled under law to money back.

Also check to see that this policy is clearly posted in an obvious place. If not it is null & void (at least in MA). Refund policies must be clearly stated and clearly posted.

Don't be afraid to threaten to report to AG or local consumer protectiona agency and of course the Mall.

THanks TIggersmom. I will update later this evening. But I have a major feeling that this kiosk is gone. Carl, when he told me he bought it I didnt mind. As it was for my 4 yr old who has trouble with the more advanced games of the gamecube. I thought it was a good deal too, that many games for $60. BUT I did not actually see it until Christmas morning. This thing is horribly made, THe controllers are not even made like a real control. They feel like cheap toys that you buy at the dollar store.

I didn't read page two, but here's what I think:

I think that since it as a gift, and was only opened yesterday, you should try to return it, or exchange it. Yes, the receipt states the 10 return policy. I think that is because the kiosk is only there for the season (right?) and won't be around after the new year.

It's worth a try. If they won't take it back, there must be a manufacturer's address or phone number with the packaging. Maybe they can refund your money.

Well the kiosk is gone! It is as I thought, LOL. When I questioned the mall about this, she asked for my name and number to add "to the list" LOL. So apparently my DH is not the only one that was duped by this stand. Good thing he paid by CC. Do you all think we could dispute the charge, since we were unable to return this shoddy item?

Yes call your cc company right away and dispute it. That way you will be reimbursed and they can fight it out with the company.
