Did anybody see Frankenweenie?

Me and my 12 year old daughter went to see this movie last Friday and it is now one of our favorite movies ever. Yes, I said ever.

Let me preface this by saying we are huge Tim Burton fans, and we love animation and claymation. And for us, the weirder the movie the better, so this was right up our alley.

We had seen the original Frankenweenie that Tim had made years and years ago as it was an extra on one of the Nightmare Before Christmas DVDs. This new movie uses a lot of the same ideas, but the story is just developed more.

There are lots of funny parts in this movie, but the best thing is the character development. All the characters are unique and have funny physical and acting characteristics. There is also a lot of subtle humor.

If you go into this movie expecting something like Tangled, you will be disappointed. Howeve, if you approach it with an open mind and a willingness to laugh at dark absurdity, you'll leave happy. Oh, and there are definitely some scary moments that kids under 6 may not appreciate.

I saw on a news program yesterday that the hair on all of the puppets is actual human hair! Very interesting.

Thank you for the review! I really want to see this, but my Tim Burton loving child is away at school, so I am going to have to wait. I will see it though.

I DO love a character driven plot BTW, so this should be right up my alley.

Yes, saw it today... it was creepy, just like Tim Burton style. Really liked it. I even cried a little.

Why aren't more people seeing Frankenweenie?? It is beautiful and full of laughs, sentimental moments, and tons of nostalgic loving tributes to monster movies of the past. Dog lovers will fall in love with Sparky and his relationship with Victor.

We saw it opening weekend... a huge theater in town and there was a total of 12 people in the theater, including our family of 4.

Everyone else was seeing Hotel Transylvania.

I don't think many people are wanting to pay the money for a movie ticket to see this in the theater- especially those families with kids as Frankenweenie isn't kid friendly.

I will be honest, it is a great movie, but I wasn't in love it- after awhile, the black and white started giving me a headache.

We saw Hotel Transylvania this weekend instead of Tim Burtons movie do to time showing conflict. It was OK, I didnt laugh enough to justify telling anyone to go see it. We are Tim Burton fans, so I will rent it when it comes to pay per view.
