Did Adam Lambert just kill his career before it even started?

This is the real Adam Lambert. He toned it down A LOT for American Idol. He was over the top; no doubt about it.

The fact that people will talk about it for a few days after means he's getting the attention he wanted.

I wasn't impressed, but I do like the song.

It was a pretty raunchy kiss and it looked like Adam hurt the poor guy. Not very respectful in my opinion.

I thought it was tasteless, but nothing huge to complain about. If it wasn't planned and he hurt the guy--then yeah that is a problem. I just figured it was part of the "shock value" choreography. Looked to me like he was trying to look implusive. Hard to tell on a little computer screen though

I was not an Adam fan before and still aren't. I do like that song but I thought it was way over the top. He was the raunchiest I thought of all of the acts.

I think he would've been better off toning it down. My dd11 watches American Idol along w/ tons of people her age and she isn't downloading that song OR the video for her IPOD.

I really think he blew it. No pun intended

I have loathed Adam since AI. He is all about shock value so his little stunt doesn't really shock me to much. His vocals did sound off, I would have rather saw Kris Allen perform

I just watched his performance too. Unless there's some other video segment I missed, this just reminds me of Madonna's S & M period during her "Justify My Love" period. So, Lambert did some male crotch move. I don't see that as being considered worse than Michael Jackson grabbing his own crotch and singing "Hee-Hee!" And children did see that.

That is exactly what I thought. DH did see it and I described it as Adam Lambert meets Justify My Love.

I totally agree that Jackson did MUCH more crotch grabbing and everyone loved that.

While I think the VMA's would have been a better venue for this performance I don't think for one second that people would be complaining if it was Gaga who kissed a girl or did the move with the dancer. They wouldn't be calling that "gross."

Lambert accomplished exactly what he wanted to accomplish.

And the fall, that was awesome.

The sound was off for others too. I thought Rhianna sounded awful...I don't think it was the artists.

Did remind me too of Madonna 10+ years ago. Nothing new.

Anyone who says they "are no longer a fan" due to that performance was NOT a real fan to start with.

Not a SINGLE SOLITARY thing wrong with that performance, other than the sound. his singing was off, and certainly not representative of his usual level of talent. The choreography...tamer than any of Lady Gaga, Madaonna, Brittany, or Christina's.

In fact it looked EXACTLY like Paula Abdul's "Coldhearted Snake" from way back when.

Wow, I never watched Adam Lambert on AI but from this thread I had to check it out, just to see if I have slipped into prude territory or can still appreciate a performance even if it's not to my personal taste. Like some others, I was expecting porn.

IS THAT ALL??? LOL - really, there wasn't anything any worse than we've seen a million times before from the entertainers already named. Britney did a lot of the same thrusts in her show and my girls said even Milety Cyrus did it a lot in her show last night.

Whew - looks like I have a few years before the Lawrence Welk Show reruns kick in...

I liked Adam (except for the screeching) on American Idol.

I didn't watch the award show last night, so did just now go watch the youtube video and I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I really didn't see anything that offensive. The kiss? Well, he is gay, right? No big deal. And as for him not sounding that great, I think that's the way it is with a lot of singers on these award shows. Some of them need the tweaking that is done in the studio to make them sound better.

I love me some Adam Lambert. I did, however, think the performance was a hot mess between the bad vocals, the fall?, the whole fumbling with that girl's crotch. I was laughing throughout the whole thing. I don't think it will have any negative effect on his career though. His album is fantastic.

I don't think he will be performing that song when he makes hits the promo circuit. There sure will be lots to talk about!

I never saw him on AI and I have to be honest- I think he's terrible and tacky.

The song sounded bad- maybe it's my computer, the crappy video, etc? I'm willing to give him another chance to prove his talent but I will always think he is rather tasteless. Not my style.

Ehhh, we have all seen these moves before ( well not the kiss lol), M.J. and Madonna were much better at it.
