Diary of a dysfunctional family vacation!

Hi all.

The past five months I have been trying to plan a Disney cruise for my family, including, myself, DH, DS 14, DD 6, and DM.

We've gone from a cat 3 for me, hubby and the kids and a cat 4 for mom to no cruise. Back and forth. One point we had 2 cat 6 cabins on 4/11/04. Then no cruise.

Well, it is finally finished. We are sailing on 2/14/04 Western.
We have a cat 3 and Mom is down the hall in a cat 4.

In between all this planning, I threw out my back, recieved the wrong treatment which made it worse.
Then find out I had to have surgery (women's problems..way too gory to go into here).

The entire summer my usually supportive hubby and my mom have not been getting along. Jeez Louise!! What a summer!

But, I sat everyone down. I told them what I wanted for our vacation. I then asked them what their expectations were.
I made clear that I am going to have a good time. I will walk away from grumps and cranky people, even if I am related to them.

We all agreed on the type of stateroom we wanted and when we wanted to go.

So, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I AM GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE!!!!!

That is the attitude, after all it is EVERYONE's vacation, and everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy it and not be pulled down by someone else.

I hope everything resolves itself before the cruise so everyone can have agreat tip to remember.

AHHHHHHHHHH....Will the ship be big enough? I wanted to have a family reunion on the ship also, but DH feels the ship may not be big enough. So for now, we are cruising with close friends.

Sorry to hear about your problems and hope everything will work out for you. I say keep thinking positive...everything has a way of working out. Believe me ~ I know...LOL!

We planned our family reunion for over 2 yrs. We saved, planned, shopped, anticipated, etc. and the big day finally came. Our long awaited trip with our 4 wonderful children, 3 SIL's and 7 grands. It was wonderful and we made many special memories and some not so special, I don't care to remember...LOL!!

The ship is a city within itself. There is so much to do for any age to keep you busy, or you can spend the week relaxing. You can be as close as you like or do things seperately. Life is short ~ if you have a chance to cruise with your family please don't hesitate. You never know what tomorrow may bring ^i^.

What a great husband you have. Taking your mom along even though they're not getting along. Now THAT is supportive
Just make sure he hasn't taken out extra life insurance on her recently... Kidding!!!!Sheesh

Dreamer, QUICK pay for the whole thing in full RIGHT NOW. And don't buy trip insurance. Then move the kids and Mom and DH down a few decks, to say a category 11 (it will be cheaper to book everyone else in the lower category anyway), don't tell them. Then move yourself up to a suite, on a different date.

It seems like everything will be okay. My mom is looking forward to her verandah, DD 6 is looking forward to the clubs and another Dolphin Encounter, DS 14 is "DYING" to get on the ship and DH and I are checking out the Surial Bath

Like 4nana said, there is something for everyone!

It's gonna be a blast!!
