Diaper Question....

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant with our second child and I just remember how quickly diapers add up (I'm sure formula does too - but I breastfed so never had that worry). With DD I loved the Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers......I tried them all and they just seemed more comfortable to me. (I have thought about cloth diapering but between working full-time and the time investment involved in nursing I just don't think I can do it) Anyway.....I'd like to start picking up diapers with coupons now to have a good stash put aside. I know that Walmart is great about exchanging diapers, and can fall back on that if necessary, but I'd like to know if the Swaddlers/Cruisers work as well with boys. We won't know the sex of the baby for another 12-14 weeks and I'd like to get started now.
Thanks!
Amanda

I liked the Swaddlers with my sons when they were newborns, but after about 3 months I like Huggies. Last week I had to buy a pack of Swaddlers, because the store was out of Huggies, and both of my boys leaked out of them.:crazy2:

but I recall the same thing as the PP with him. I think once he was out of the first "stage" I went exculsively with huggies. If they were out, I used LUVS rather than pampers next stage (cruisers I think they called them).

Karen

P.S. Congrats on the new addition!

i just use regular pampers. DS is 2 now and I used huggies but I just didnt like them so I went back to swaddlers. When he got old enough to crawl I was buying the cruisers, but realized that you get more if you just buy the regualr pampers so thats what hes been wearing and they seem to hold a lot more than huggies. BTW, I found a coupon for $5 off huggies supreme so I got a pack of those and they aren't as good in my opinion. He seems to leak out of them alot more than the pampers...

Hey friend :)

A good friend of mine has a boy a month younger than my DD. She swears by Pampers Swaddlers then Cruisers/Baby Dry.

PS- I just got a semi-dark line on my OPK strip... and no clomid! Wish us luck :wizard:

My little boy is 9 months and Im sticking with Pampers...they are great for no leaks...what to do is go to Pampers.com and register with them, every month they send money off coupons...they are a great help...I get the same with registering at Similac.com ...they send a $5 coupon per month...and lets face it...every little bit helps. Good luck with the baby.xxx
ps...im not saying Huggies are bad , they are good too, I just feel the pampers are alot softer and fit the baby better. Whatever you do DONT buy LUVS or Cosco Kirkland brand...they are both rubbish..they are like putting a plastic bag on the babies butt and they dont hold one ounce of tinkle!!

I swore by Swaddlers!! I hated when my son outgrew them as I loved them so much! We went from Swaddlers to Cruisers to regular Pampers and are now at Luvs, primarily because they're a bit cheaper than the Baby Dry & have more in a box. The Luvs don't leak and can get really, really full before they do leak through clothes.

For us, the ONLY diapers my son wouldn't leak out of when he was an infant were the Pampers brand. We plan on going back to Pampers brand once my son gets potty training. We tried all kinds of different diapers (all brands, all stores) and Pampers were our best results. I know it's different for everyone, but that was our experience.

Best of luck to you!!
:flower3:

At first I bought only pampers swaddleds and cruisers for DS, but then I tried the White Cloud ones from Walmart and they are just as good as the pampers! They are so much cheaper too! I get a jumbo pack with ninety some diapers for 16 bucks. I do use Huggies overnights for nightine since ALL the diapers leaked with DS at night including Pampers! I really like the WC though. A good value for the inexpensive diapers.

DS, 20 months, was in Pampers swaddlers/cruisers up until recently. They just seemed to fit better overall amd they seemed a bit more "bottom friendly." However, for the past 2 months or so, the Huggies seem to work a bit better for him. Why, I don't know, but I certainly don't mind because you get about 30 more diapers than Pampers for the same price at Sams.

Pampers Swaddlers and now Cruisers have always worked the best for my son. Huggies leaked every time, and pampers baby dry didn't absorb as much.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

DS is 22 months and we've used Swaddlers and Cruisers on him since he was born. I like them better than Huggies.

DS, 19 months, has been in Swaddlers and Cruisers almost exclusively. I've tried several different kinds (both kinds of huggies, the lesser pampers, target) but he rarely ever leaked out of the Pampers. If he started leaking out several times in a row, it usually meant that he was ready for the next size up (or I didn't point him down!). We do use Huggies Nightime diapers now for bedtime but Cruisers during the day and for naps. I also don't have any stray cheeks with the Pampers.:thumbsup2

I eventually came to terms with the idea, that my babies could pee in cheap diapers as easily as they could in expensive ones. My babies used luvs and white cloud diapers and we suffered no permanently ruined furniture or psyches (well we hope).......My vote is for Luvs or White Cloud

Costco brand diapers are great (you do need a membership). We used Huggies for no leaks but then tried the Costco brand (no risk - they'll take returns if you don't like them).

For our son we got a variety of diapers at the baby shower. Out of all the huggies, store brands, and pampers we got we liked the swaddlers the best. All the other diapers he seemed to get a lot more leaks. I am sad we are at the point he has outgrown the swaddlers so we are moving up to cruisers.

That being said...every baby is different so what works for one doesn't always work for another.

I am like some other ladies here. Both of my babies were born early and were in premie diapers and we used the swaddlers from then until newborn size. When my son went to size 1's we had leakage issues so we went to huggies which were great! My DD stayed in pampers until she hit size 3. Then we switched to kirkland brand and we love them! No leaks and my DS and DD still use them today :)

Ditto to that! I never used store brands with DS no. 1 but I LOVE WC's now. I tell everyone about them. I used the Pampers Swaddlers for the first few months w/ both kids and finally tried WC's and they really are great diapers!

Pampers !!!! My daughter went from swaddlers to cruiser extra absorent. I can only find them in our BJ's wholesale club..they are much better than the regular cruisers softer like the swaddlers.

When DS was a newborn and infant, we used Swaddlers and loved them. As a pp mentioned, when he started to leak out of a diaper it was either time to move up a size or a diapering error...always point south!

Anyway, once he outgrew the swaddlers, we switched to cruisers because it seemed like the natural next choice. DS broke out in a horrible rash across his midsection, right where the diaper gets velcroed shut, under his bellybutton. So, I switched to baby dry pampers, same thing. We have been using Huggies ever since and no rash. He does have very sensitive skin, eczema, asthma, food allergies, so there wasn't a surprise. But, we love the huggies and plan on starting with huggies right from the start next time around. The worst part, when I contaced pampers to ask them what I should be avoiding in other products because DS was clearly allergic to the diapers and they kept responding with "our products are hypo-allergenic". I was so annoyed.

Anyway, I have never had a problem with Huggies. They fit my son right, he's got a tiny tush.

Congrats on the news!

And good luck BRIDE-TO-BE!

We used swaddlers for the boys when they were itty-bitty, but at some point, the fragrance in pampers started to give B a rash, so we switched to Huggies. We used the Natural Care for ages, until they were older and on solids and their poo was less runny. Then we went to the normal Huggies (Snug n Dry or something like that... they're cheaper.) However, we still use the Natural Care/Supreme for bedtime now. They just seem to hold more. And for daytime diapers we also often use Costco's brand- they are VERY similar to Huggies- no fragrance and the fit/material is almost identical. :thumbsup2
