Diaper Pin in Carry-on?

I have a diaper pin in my makeup case which I use to seperate my lashes. I looked on the TSA website and didn't see diaper pins listed under 'sharp objects'. Do you think I'll be okay leaving it in my carry-on? I did notice that knitting needles are allowed now...and my little pin is way smaller than a foot long needle!


OT: I just printed my boarding passes and I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself!!! I'm all packed and ready to go!!

I don't know diaper pins, specifically, but I carry on my needlepoint which has an assortment of sewing needles. Those have never been a problem. Just remember that any TSA agent can decide something is against the rules and you have very little recourse (if catching your plane is more important that your pin!)

Your post caught my eye because people are always mentioning the knitting needles. I knit, and knitting needles are not sharp! I used to knit on planes to relax just after 9-11 (they were allowed back on within a few months). Often, people were suprised this was allowed, but, honestly, my knitting needles are about the same size and shape as a ballpoint pen.

Knitting needles may not be sharp, but, they can poke someone's eye out.
Also, they allow corkscrews, let's think about that one!!!!! That can be a deadly weapon. BUT, prior to new rules, if the corkscrew had a little label knife on it, you had to break the knife off. Now, IMHO, that is whacked.

I doubt it will be a problem, however, don't use the pin during turbulance.

I have a couple of large emergency safety pins that I keep pinned through the strap handle of my carryon bag down near where it is sewn to the bag. Never been a problem.

Definitely, but that's why I made the compasion to ballpoint pens. If you can do it with a knitting needle, you could do it with a Bic (well, except knit, perhaps)

Well, actually you can knit with a bic, not as easy as with the proper tools, but, it can be done.

PLEASE rethink the diaper pin in general!!!! Cosmetic companies make eyelash combs - with which you CAN'T accidentally stab yourself in the eye!!!!!!!!!!! Please, never say never. Using a pointed object that close to your eyes CAN be risky.
