Hoping others with littles can help with recent travel experience! I put a request in with my travel agent for a Diaper Genie for our cruise in January. I just don't see my daughter potty training in the next few weeks and it will likely be needed. The TA said she thinks those are a first come first serve thing now, not by request. Has anyone had issues getting one when needed? I can't imagine not having one with some of those stinkers ;).

Also, for a stroller, we have a Baby Jogger City Mini. A full size stroller. I don't see us using it while on board, my daughter is 2.5. But we will need it for excursions and before and after the cruise. I've been reading full size strollers are not a good fit with the hallways and doorways. Anyone have the city mini and can comment? My DD is 37 lbs and quite tall, a standard umbrella stroller isn't an option, I'd have to track down a sturdier taller one somehow.

Thanks for any words of wisdom!

Your TA should have the request for the diaper genie put on your reservation. Whether or not she thinks it's "first come, first served" or not. It's up to DCL to see that you get one that way. If she doesn't do it, they may run out.

My TA told me the same thing. So Disney must be asking the TAs to NOT request them.

We brought an older Maclaren (I think it's the techno or techno xt, something like that) and didn't have a problem. From what I can find, it's not much smaller/lighter than yours. It doesn't fold up quite as small, but you can just slide it under the bed.

As for nappies, we just used nappy sacks. At home we had one of those diaper genie twisty bag things. But we chucked it out after about a month. Nappy sacks were just so much easier.

I almost wrote nappy sacks on my list of cruise things, love that so much more than diaper baggies :).

My agent did say she would put the request for a genie in for me if she was able to. Hoping so, can't imagine cutting something so simple from the amenities available to families!

Well, since they are aware of everyone's ages onboard, maybe they just make some assumptions as to how many will be be needed on any given cruise (based on the kid's ages). I know that Guest Services is one place to make the request once onboard.

I asked my stateroom host for a diaper genie when we got on board the magic in August, we had no issues getting one.

We also took a city mini on board, didn't use it on the ship but did off the ship and had no issues, it folded up easily under the bed and the sun shade was used all the time.

There were lots of city minis on board (including doubles!) I don't think you will have any issues

We were just on the Dream in November and the Diaper Genie we requested was waiting in our room so I don't think it would be a problem. We brought a sturdy umbrella stroller and it just took up space. My kids (1 and 3) wanted to walk everywhere and would not go in it! It just ended up being one more thing to carry -- although it was good for putting luggage on top of! The single city mini should fit without a problem.

We have a sturdy umbrella stroller for cruises. That thing barely fits through the stateroom door. We have a city mini at home and use it for wdw but not for the cruises. I'm cruising with a 2.5 year old in January and I'm going and forth with actually taking it. My son prefers to walk and it isn't sooo much that's it's a problem. Leaving the ship would be annoying though as would the airport. So many just talked myself into it :)

Every time I've cruised Disney the diaper genie has automatically been in our room. But when we are not cruising Disney (once on celebrity and once on Royal) ww just use those nice smelling bags and dump it in a cleaning cart or public bathroom when we leave the room. It has always worked fine.

We had no issues requesting a diaper genie and a stroller once on board the Disney Magic a few weeks ago.
I would get your TA to put it on the reservation (or call DCL yourself) we did and the cast member asked if we needed it and also the play pen. The play pen was put in the stateroom, but the diaper genie wasn't, asked stateroom host and got it no problem.
Also got a stroller onboard. There is no charge for it unless you don't return it and then it's $200 I think. The strollers they had on the Magic looked brand new and they are Peg Perego with full decline, drink trays etc. Really nice strollers and fairly compact, fold easily.
Not sure if all ships have same strollers, but if they do you may be able to borrow one instead of bringing your own.
You can use it in ports too.
