Diamonds in Nassau

Anyone have any recommendations/ stories for finding the best "deal" on loose diamonds in Nassau?

I am currently in the market for 2 loose stones about .4 carats for earrings. I do have a price from my local jeweler, but could be fun to see what is available on this island.

(Please don't knock me, my jeweler is an old family friend and he fully supports me looking for stones in Nassau.)

Personally, I wouldn't make such a large purchase on a cruise. I mean, if the "diamonds" are not what they are professed to be - what recourse do you have? You're home now and many miles from the place that sold them to you.

Of course, you can shop and price them out, if you wish. I'd just caution, think carefully before making an actual purchase.
