Wow, 2 days down, 3 more to go! My feet were surviving pretty well thus far, and I was having a great time! Disneyland is amazing! I am so glad I was able to go!
Cast Members: Just a school buddy of mine, Jason and myself. He is 21 and I am 22 (still very young at heart though)
DAY 3:
We woke up early yet again, at about 7:00am in order to hit the park at opening. I think we ended up getting there at about 8:15am. There was a huge line (I figured because it was Friday). It took us about 10 minutes to get into the park. I noticed it was much more busy than the two earlier days. Upon entrance, we saw the Disneyland band by the main entrance and saw the Mad Hatter, TweedleDee and TweedleDum dancing around with children. It was really cute to watch, and we ended up just hanging around there for a bit. Plus, Jasons' dad wanted a picture of the Mad Hatter, which he did pose for with the funniest face! He was crossing his eyes and had his tongue sticking out to the side of his mouth. Haha! It was great!
After this, we realized we had not ridden Splash Mountain yet, as the lines were usually atrocious (sp?)! Usually 60-90 minutes! Fastpasses, we usually saved for Space Mountain. We figured the line wouldnt be so bad in the morning, so we headed over to Critter County. Just as we expected (luckily), the line was probably about 10 minutes. It took the longest just getting through all the loops and turns in the mountain to where you finally just get on the boat. Jason was really nervous and it was kinda cute, because he was trying to act all tough about this ride before. I was a little nervous too, just because of the big drop at the end, not so much the getting wet aspect. I was a little tense throughout this ride, but I did notice the cuteness of it. Just a warning....the song will easily get stuck in your head for days and days! LOL! It's really really catchy and you'll notice that you're singing it on the drive/flight home. The little "scenes" inside the mountain are adorable and it helped in easing the tension a little bit. As for the drop....not so bad at all! I was expecting much worse, and kicking myself for being so tense on the ride. Jason, screamed like a chicken though and the little girls in front of us were laughing. It was funny because he kept saying it was me that was screaming. What a great ride though. I wanted to ride it again, but Jason didn't. So we decided to hit Tomorrowland. We rode Space Mountain once w/o a Fastpass as the line was about 20 minutes. It's funny because after a couple times riding Space, you know the exact moment when your picture will be taken, so you can do some silly poses. Jason and I had a blast coming up w/ different poses and would always run off the ride to see our pictures. Other people would be like, "Well obviously, they knew a picture would be taken", but would still laugh at our poses. After Space, we headed over to Innoventions and hung out there for about 30 minutes. You could spend a while there if you look at every single display, but we kinda just skimmed through. There is this cool exhibit that will take your picture and show you what you will look like in about 10-20 years. That was way fun for both of us.
After leaving Innoventions, we headed over to Indiana Jones to grab some fastpasses then headed over to Club Buzz for breakfast. Jason had french toast and I had the Sunrise Breakfast which consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, seasoned potatos and a blueberry muffin plus a drink of choice. I thought this was a great value for $6.99. I got the hot cocoa (which is always awesome in the mornings) and we sat at the huge dining area at Club Buzz. It was a really filling breakfast and really hit the hunger spot!
We then went over to ride Indiana Jones (always fun), and then I decided to go into the Tiki Room. This was OK, I can see kids really liking it though. I noticed Jason almost falling alseep! I thought it was pretty neat. The song also is catchy and gets in your head as well (like most Disney music)! Once exiting the Tiki Room, I noticed the Tiki Juice Bar. On this forum, I read plenty of posts saying a "must have at Disneyland" was a Dole Whip. So I got in line (I figured these things must be good if there was a lengthly line for them). I wasn't even sure as to what a "Dole Whip" was, but in trusting fellow DISers, took a chance. It turned out to be Pineapple Ice Cream in a cup. SOOOOOOOOO good...and so refreshing on a hot day! The CM asked if I wanted cherries on it (I said yes) and noticed some cute little umbrellas on the counter, and asked if I could have one of those too. The CM said yes and added it to my ice cream. What a great treat! Very glad I stopped to try it!
We both decided to go do a little shopping at Downtown Disney. I was having a tough time deciding what to get my boyfriend from Disneyland. I saw the Build-a-Bear Workshop and I thought it would be perfect! It was such an cute process and the employees were extremely helpful as you went from station to station. I found an adorable little dark brown bear that I though would be great (only $10 at this point). Then I was able to add a sound to my bear! I wanted "I Love You" ($3), so the employee at the sound station added a little device so that when you squeeze my bears' hand, it says, "I Love You". There were alot of other cute sounds and also the ability to record your own! Too cute! We then went over to the "Stuffing Station", we did a little heart ceremony where you make a wish on a heart, rub it with love, and put it into your bear! What a great idea! The kids around me were loving this! I can see why, it is sooo personalized! Then, once your bear is stuffed (you decide whether you want it soft or firm), you get to pick an outfit! There are sooo many things to choose from, including shoes and accessories! I decided to go with the Disneyland 50th Anniversary outfit ($7) which included a shirt with the logo and the infamous Mickey ears. After this, you even get to name your bear and create a personalized birth certificate. When ringing up, the total was around $21.00! Well worth it by far in my opinion! Then they give you a cute box to "take him home" in. What a great experience!
After this, I needed to go to House of Blues for some gifts for my Mom, Moms' b/f, and friend. I picked up a couple shirts and a shot glass for my buddy. It seemed like a cool place to hang out. We had planned to come back later tonight if we weren't too tired. After this, we walked to drop off my purchases at the hotel. Jason stopped at McDonalds and grabbed some lunch; I wasnt hungry so I didnt get anything. After he ate, we headed back to DL!
Wow, we've done a lot so far and it was barely about 2pm! I picked up a caramel candy apple with nuts from the Candy Shop on Main Street (I promised myself I'd try one of these at least once at DL). We then headed back to DL and grabbed more fastpasses for Indiana Jones for later. Turns out that there was going to be a concert at Club Buzz at about 3:30 starring these girls that sing on the Disney Channel. Ali and AJ, I believe their names were. Well, Jason heard about this, and knew who they were, so of course, he didnt want to miss them! He also saw that they were giving autographs after their performance, so he wanted to catch that too. I was feeling hungry at this point, so I grabbed lunch at Club Buzz, I think I had a chicken sandwhich w/ fries and Jason was still full from his McDonalds. We sat and waited for the concert to begin. Jason had talked to a nearby CM that was saying that a line was already forming for autographs. So, Jason ran to get in line. He actually made me go with him as he wanted me to get a picture as he was getting the girls' autographs (Yes, he was a little "starstruck"). This was probably the worst part of the trip! At this time of day...I'm sure it was nearing about 100 degrees and we were in the sun, in line, waiting for these girls to be done w/ the concert so that Jason could get an autograph. The CMs didnt allow any placeholders in line either; they basically said that if you left the line, you would not be able to re-enter. So, we were stuck. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes in the heat for these girls. I could feel beads of sweat dripping down my back...it was soooooooo gross! And I couldnt get out of line to buy a water or anything, because then I would lose my spot and Jason wouldnt get his picture! ARGGGG! Finally, we got the autographs and the picture. Jason bought a $10 CD so they could sign that. I was flustered afterwards and feeling a little dizzy from the heat. I made sure to buy myself a huge water. We then walked over to Indiana Jones (by this time we had passed out fastpass window, but we were able to get on anyway w/ the fastpasses). Then, I wanted to head over to the hotel to shower before dinner. I felt soooo gross!
I felt 1000% better after my shower and was glad that we headed back to the hotel. At this point, it was about 6:30pm and we had reservations for Ariel's Grotto at 7:20pm. We changed and headed over to DCA. I was soooo excited about this dinner. I love all the Princesses, especially Jasmine, so I was looking forward to this character dinner the most! We checked in at about 7:00pm and waited the full 20 minutes to be called. We were seated outside by the water (we requested that upon making the reservation) and it was a gorgeous view of the water and the rides across the way. We were immediately greeted by our server and he took our drink order. I love the hot cocoa so that was my choice and I believe Jason had a root beer. As soon as our drink order arrived, the waiter took our appetizer, entree and dessert order and brought us some warm rolls. Then, to my surprise, Mulan came around the corner! She was very polite and conversational asking us where we were from, how we liked our trip so far, etc. We then got pictures w/ her as well. I felt like a little girl! I was having sooo much fun! Out appetiser arrived, both soups. It was great and nice and warm. I have to say though that I was more focused on the princesses coming around than the food. I kept turning around to see which princess was coming around next. The entrees were great! I ordered a salmon BLT which was cooked perfectly and served with large steak fries. Eventually, we were being bombarded with princesses, left and right. I was sooo excited when Jasmine came around! I was soo afraid of missing some of the princesses because I know they have quite a few tables to cover. They all ended up coming to our table and even a couple princes (I think they were princes). We saw Ariel (with legs!), Belle, Mulan, Jasmine, and Snow White all before dessert was served. They were all in character and were quite conversational. Snow White asked if Jason was my prince. I just laughed and said..."No, just a school buddy." It was cute though. I remember getting a weird thought and asking Jason to imagine if all the Disney characters got together and just had a dance-off. It would be funny to watch! Haha, anyways! I was noticing how much fun the kids around us were having. There were a bunch of little girls dressed in princess costumes and you could tell they just loved getting the compliments from the princesses on their dresses. The dessert was really good too, I ordered this rocky road dessert with rocky road ice cream with extra marshmallows on top of a brownie! Yummm! This was a blast, definately worth every penny!
After dinner, we wanted to see the Electrical Parade from on top of the big Ferris Wheel at DCA. This was really cool, you could see all the floats and even see where the floats come out initially of the warehouse. After this ride, we headed back over to DL. At this point, my feet were starting to hurt, which is kinda amazing it wasnt earlier considering the days we've had. We decided to take it easy and not rush anywhere. I needed something to drink at this point so I picked up a frozen lemonade on the way to Tomorrowland. We headed over to Club Buzz because we heard there was a band playing and thought it would be a great chance to sit and relax. When we got there, all the characters were jamming out! Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, were all dancing! It was awesome! Jason thought it was crazy how just earlier, I made the suggestion that it would be cool if the characters got together to dance! There were plenty of kids and teens dancing around them, so we joined right away! Even though my feet were hurting, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to dance w/ my favorite characters! It was soooooo fun! Goofy was hilarious as he was doing all these old school dance moves like the sprinkler and Mc Hammer and the running man. It was great! The kids were laughing like crazy! Eventually, they took the characters away (it was nearing Fantasmic, so I'm assuming thats why they left).
After this, we managed to get on Buzz one more time and headed home. I was way too tired to ride anything else. We stopped by one of the shops on Main Street where I bought a couple cute frames and a wedding ornament for my b/fs' brother that just got married. After this, we walked back to the hotel and called it a day. I wanted to soak my feet in the jacuzzi, but it was closed! Wamp wamp! What a day though!
Stay tuned for DAY 4 on the way...
