Hi! :wave2:

We'll be visiting UO/IoA during our FL trip from 5/10-5/16. Is it possible they'll be doing soft opening/testing for Diagon Alley at that time? A few years ago we were lucky enough to visit the New Fantasyland at MK during soft opening, and was hoping for the same good luck this year! Oh, also, does anyone know what the height restriction will be for the new Gringott's ride?

Thank you! :goodvibes

I think mid-May is too early and no restrictions have been published yet.

Anything is possible, but I dont think your dates in May are probable. No info has been released yet regarding height requirements for gringotts

From what I've read, the Gringotts ride vehicles are going to be very similar to the Mummy, so it may be close to that height restriction. Just guessing. But we won't know till they post it.

Robert Miles (for those familiar with him) said the height will be 40 inches.

Just had to reschedule our trip. Now staying onsite at Hardrock from 7/1/14 to 7/5/14. I am hoping it won't be open (have not read Harry Potter and only saw one movie). I am sure it will be great but I would trade off an opening for lower crowds so I can enjoy the parks. How bad will the crowds be if this opens? How bad during a regular July?

It will probably be opening in June. It will be super packed.

I know this is just a guess but is Memorial Day possibility of a soft open?

I wonder if they will do soft opens for resort guests only like they did with the WWoHP. That was AWSOME!

Mist likely it'll be resort and ap holders first after the tms train and use it first.

I was a part of that WWoHP! It was great! Fingers crossed for Memorial Day weekend!

It is expected to open in June..Expect it to be super packed this summer

Well, if "soft opening" mean people staying on site only get to go in, then I will hope for a July 4th opening because I will be one of those people. :yay: But it will probably open in June like you all are saying and then be really crowded. I haven't had much luck with vacation planning this year :confused3

Soft openings are for everyone...there's no guarantee when or how long the new attraction would be available at any given time. It's basically a rehearsal so it's open to everyone who's lucky enough to be there at the time.

What about the ap holders preview? Do we get advanced notice? Will this occur?

Typically the very frist soft openings aren't passholder previews, considering the number of things that can go wrong on the first try or two. For Transformers it was soft opening time to time for nearly two weeks before the preview. (It's usually because they don't want to schedule a preview and have it be down).

The original wizarding world preview was after grand opening, but they did give a lot of goodies for that one. Diagon alley may be a mix of both with the Hogwarts Express involved.

Crowds are going to be crazy over the 4th of July week no matter what. Some Europeans get that month off for their summer break (like my family in Norway) as well, and travel to the US to experience our celebration. Even if Diagon Alley isn't open, the parks will be packed.
