Diagon Alley Opening Date confirmed! (and then denied!)

And now Universal are apologising on Twitter for releasing the incorrect date. They've also amended the Flash animation linked above to change the date back to Summer 2014.
:(

Wow, in my haste to pass on the good news I didn't check the spelling...

you can edit a thread title by editing your first post and then clicking "advanced" - that will give you the option of editing the title. :)

as for the change in dates - i'm sure it was on purpose - to generate buzz

Will be so gutted to miss it by a few days :(

I'd be very surprised if it's not soft-open from next Saturday (21st), after the media events are finished.
I think Uni are holding back on an official opening date so that
A) people aren't putting off trips this summer to wait for the opening and
B) thousands of people don't descend on the resort in one day, resulting in those 6hr waits just to get in that we saw with Hogsmeade.

Well this is what I was hoping, but alot of rumors are that they won't have any softs this time or If they do it will be literally day before.
So hope they are proved wrong lol I have 3 harry mad kids

not having any softs means they can't fine tune the guest flow, or even train team members properly for efficient load/unload procedures and times.

softs are basically a final rehearsal. If they did without softs, it wouldn't be good news.

Yes I know,
Which is why everybody expects them to happen.
I guess we will just have to see.

thousands of people will descend on the park regardless of whether they give an official date or not.
the scenes from IOA will be repeated. And i suspect will be even worse.

I agree. I remember seeing the footage and queues. Sorry but who in their right mind wants to wait 6-7 hours for things. It would be my worst nightmare.

mine too!!!!
there is no way i will wait that long for anything

well...maybe if they were giving away a billion dollars...
ok..maybe i'd do it even for a million dollars....
but not much less than that!! ;)

The same people who would wait 4 hours to meet Anna and Elsa? :)

that's insane...just as is waiting 3 hours to ride soaring or toy story or anything at WDW....

and in truth, the whole rope drop marathon that i used to participate in at DHS to get FPs at toy story mania - definitely insane behavior....

so i guess we all have our insane behavior that we're willing to take part in...
(i've done more than my fair share of mini-marathons over the years, to various attractions)...

but still - waiting in line for 7 hours?????????? it does seem extreme to me..

i wonder if i can find one of those pictures from the original harry potter...

i found one from the opening in IOA (what year was that)? (but this isn't the best - i'm looking for that crazy aerial view)

We are flying out on July 24th and our first planned trip to Universal is July 31st. The sooner it opens, the better for us as it's going to be manic.

We bought 14 day tickets so hopefully I'll get to experience Diagon Alley at some point, even if I have to go just before it closes ;)

I am with you all on this one.

We don't wait more than 30-40 minutes to ride an ride. There is nothing anywhere that I want to wait in line for.

We fast pass smart and just do whatever we can do that we don't have to wait an excrutiatingly long time for.
