Most table services will probably have whole grain/wheat/bran/oat/rye breads. Again, if he isnt monitoring his sugar and on pills and or insulin, the activity level being at WDW should be enough to where he can even treat himself and not worry. If he is spiking out of control, then he would be monitoring, medicating, ect ect and would need to closely supervise intake and output.
My dad and mom are both diabetic like myself - 8 kids and they all dodged that bullet -- cept' me. Dad is remarried for 30 years already - but my step mom is a nag - *****in about everything that goes into his mouth --- banning him from potato salad or corn - POISON - he is miserable --- my one pet peeve about this is - she doesnt care if he drinks... vodka straight up at a party. I asked him - what would you rather have? the potato salad or the vodka or a piece of keylime pie (it was a bbq) he said the salad.
I much rather see him eat the salad then drink the vodka. All his medication states 'DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL' along with the knowledge that alcohol like starch is just sugar in the bloodstream. ---- His wife saw it as me butting my nose in, but I insisted that she read his medicine - nowhere does it say he cant have potato salad on it.
Let dad make choices, he can have almost everything if he is just a diet control diabetic - He just cant have everything at once. Sugar free is everywhere - ASK for it.. same with rice pasta, whole grain bread, wonderful veggie packed wraps --- Ask. --- check out the menus over on allearsnet.com too.
