Diabetes travel pack?

Hi,
DH and I are going to the World in September. He normally carries his meter (which comes in a black pouch), a bottle of insulin and a few syringes in his pockets. The trouble with this is the syringes sometimes poke him or if they are pre-filled will squirt insulin in his pocket. I'm also worried about the Florida heat's effect on the insulin. I would like to get a small case to carry everything. It can't be much bigger than the meter case (see below) or else he won't use it. Any suggestions? I've suggested he try the pen, but he really doesn't like change.

On the flip side, I have a suggestion to offer. We got an insulated lunch box from LL Bean that he keeps all his supplies in at home. It's quite handy and keeps everything together. When we go for day trips we just throw the lunch box in the car and we're ready to roll! They have a lot of fun colors and prints and I think you get your embroidered.

Doesn't he have caps on his syringes? A couple of syringes and a bottle of insulin will fit in the case you've pictured.

I live in Florida and I just throw my meter bag, vials and syringes in my purse. Have not had any problem doing this. If it is really hot I will put it in an insulated lunch box and throw that in my backpack. Only thing to not do is leave it in a hot car. If you need to you can leave your supplies at First Aid and they will keep them for you in their fridge.

I used a frio pack for my DD's insulin. The frio pack works like those cooling bands,you put it in water and the stuff inside of it turns into a gel .It worked great to keep her insulin cool.

I would second the purchase of a Frio pack. The only US source I am aware of is www.coolerconcept.com . I use one of these when travelling and there are several other people in this forum who also use them.

I would recommend the Frio pack also. They are great and not that big. Also.. i noticed he is using the One Touch. has he considered getting a OT Mini? They are super small and Dd uses one in WDW because she can slip it on her pump belt. You can get one for free at www.onetouchdiabetes.com.
Also.. i have seen clips that hold syringes in place to keep them from squirting. I don't recall where but I am thinking it had to be online somehwere.

To those who use the cute One Touch Mini meters, can you use the same test strips that you use for the One Touch Ultra?
