I made a map of DHS using an algorithm (fast marching method coded in R for you nerds out there) to calculate walking distance to an attraction. In this example, I chose Muppet Vision 3D as the attraction. Red is a long walk, blue is a short walk, and green is in between. This is cool because no matter where you are in the park, you know the exact path to take to the Muppets if you want to minimize your walking time. This is equivalent to having tiles throughout the park, and every tile has an arrow pointing you in the right direction. At the bottom of the map, can see the void which will become Star Wars Land between the Muppets area and Toy Story Midway Mania.

The tiles idea would be great. Even better if the tiles would light up, ala Michael Jackson's Billie Jean. Of course, it would just work for me.

And, fascinating map of walking time. Truly amazing.

With Hololens and other AR (augmented reality) technologies, this is a thing. you can have glasses that display your exact path to a destination (not just in the parks but everywhere). They already have the technology in use in some places. Personally I think it's far better than VR. The future is now!
