I am considering walking from DHS to Beaches and Cream for lunch and back to DHS.

Is this a good plan?
How long is the walk?
We'll be there the last week in March. Any ideas how long we might have to wait at Beaches and Cream?
Are they open all afternoon or just at "meal" times? Would 2:00 or so be better than noon?

It's about a 20 minute walk.
It's tough on hot days as there isn't much shade. But end of March should be ok.

Or you could boat it.

It is a 20 minute walk and will be faster than the boat. An alternative to walking the whole way is to take the boat to Swan/Dolphin and walk the rest of the way from there.

B&C will definitely be less crowded at 2:00 than at noon.

Definitely do not try noon. B&C only has about 8 tables/booths in the place plus a counter that seats maybe 10. Its very small and they get a lot of pool traffic from YC/BC/BCV resort guests. You may wait in a line for a table even at 2:00.

The walk is quite nice from DHS but just keep in mind that it's full sun all the way.

Most often, however, walking is much faster than the boat. You often have to wait for one to arrive, and there is a chance you might not even be able to get on the first one that gets there (too many people). I agree that it may be tough in the summer, but March isn't that bad weather-wise.

Too far to walk, IMO, unless it's a really gorgeous day. Plus, B&C at lunch is too crowded to bother with.

Going at 2PM is a great time. For us, B&C is worth the wait, any time. We've never walked to and from DHS, but I think it's doable and a pleasant walk if you aren't in a hurry. It probably would be good to walk back and walk off the lunch! LOL

The "full boat" phenomenon when leaving DHS rarely happens during the day. I can see how that might be a problem at night after Fantasmic or something when big crowds are leaving DHS all at once, but in the middle of the day, I have never experienced this (and with over a dozen trips to YC under my belt, I have ridden the boat to and from DHS dozens of times).

In addition, you will usually wait for the boat for at least a couple minutes,m but even without such a wait, walking is faster than the boat (since it doesn't go very fast and it stops at S/D and BW before going to BC).

Another vote for walking. It is a pleasant 20 minute or so walk. Unless it is REALLY hot we walk and enjoy it. I beileve it should be fine in March.
I would definitley recommend 2 PM rather than noon. As others have said it is a small restauarnt. I think it is worth it. Leave room for ice cream
