DH's Secret Santa woe.....

Well, yesterday was DH's Secret Santa at work. Everyone was exchanging gifts, having a good time. He then noticed that no one had given him a gift. It wasn't until after the party was over that he realized what happened - - he had to let go 2 employees last week for bad performance, and one of those must have been his secret santa. Of course, this was greeted with a lot of mirth from some of the other supervisors...he fired his Secret Santa.

DHs secret santa last year forgot to bring his gifts all week like they were supposed to, then handed him something the following Monday

At least one of the employees had something to smile about on his way out. I don't mean that to say your Dh shouldn't have fired them if they didn't take warnings seriously and didn't improve, but I hate to hear of anyone losing their job, especially at Christmas.

My secret santa last year stood up and announced to everyone that she hadn't had time to shop for my gift, but would bring me something nice on Monday. It was ok - a candle in a holder. It was really uncomfortable, though. There were some polite smiles, but you could just hear what everyone was thinking.

He actually doesn't make the full decision to fire, this comes from his boss with added evaluations from my DH, but since he is the supervisor, he does the firing. These two employees were with a temporary service, so their company probably found them other temporary jobs.

We had a sad one at work too. One employee has no family (his mother has passed, estranged from his father, no wife or kids). His Secret Santa was the only one who didn't show up to the Christmas party.

We felt so bad for him...it was probably the only present he was to get. And he definitely isn't the type to surprise with a gift without making him feel uncomfortable.
