We've never tried either restaurant before and would like to do lunch at one of them on our DHS day. There will be 7 of us - 4 adults and 3 kids aged 3, 5, and 8. The adults aren't picky eaters and the kids' menus look roughly the same at both places. If you had to choose one for lunch, which would you pick? There are still some ADRs available for either, but I'm guessing they will fill up over the next few days.

From what I can tell, if we choose Sci-Fi we'll have to use one of the picnic tables due to our party size.

Thanks for your help and advice!

We love 50's Prime Time and go there every trip. We love the pot pie and the fried chicken. It was the first reservation I made for our upcoming trip.:thumbsup2

No you won't have to sit in the picnic tables, you may be seated in 2 cars.

Both restaurants are good, but I would pick the Sci Fi for the atmosphere. There are many reports of the food being bad there, but we have always had a good meal.

The atmosphere at Sci-Fi is much better in my opinion! The pot roast used to very good at Prime Time, however, if I want someone to tell me to eat my vegetables, I will go visit my mom.

Prime Time hands down. Sci-Fi has a pretty cool atmosphere but 50's also has a good atmosphere, fun waiters/waitresses for the most part, and way better food. Fried Chicken, Potroast, Meatloaf are just some of the choices you get to choose from. Awesome place, one of my favorites at the World.

We loved Sci-Fi in February, it was one of our favorite meals. We were able to fit 3 adults and 2 kids in a car with 2 more adults "hitchhiking" in the back, so I think you might even fit in one car.
We really enjoyed the meal, the setting, and my daughters loved the flicks!

We went to Sci-Fi last March. Loved it! It's a must do this year.
I had this shrimp pasta. So good, I came home and found the recipe so I could make it at home. :lovestruc

My kids loved sitting in the cars and watching the movies.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Sounds like there are fans on both sides, and it's nice to know we can all fit in one car if we decide on Sci-Fi. I'm guessing that makes the experience more complete than sitting at a picnic table in the back.

If anyone else has any more opinions/thoughts on these two restaurants, I'd love to hear them!

I have to go with Sci-Fi , one of our favorites!...We are throw backs to the 50's tho, so absolutely LOVE the movies clips they show. To us the food is fine, nothing to write home about, but we have had much worse at WDW. We like Prime Time a lot, the meat loaf and the fried chicken are always good, but the atmosphere at SciFi edges out PT...especially since drive ins are a dying breed, it really is a novelty for us. Also, if it is HOT out, it is a very nice break to be in the cool and dark. If you think of it, have some cheapie glow stuff for the kids to play with/open, it will add a lot of fun.

My vote is Sci Fi too. They gave the kids a driver's license at the end of the meal. It was very cute.

Same here.

Not a fan of the food at Sci Fi at all.

^^^ We haven't visited Prime Time, but we went to Sci-Fi this past June. We loved it! My husband had the Reuben, my daughter and I both ordered Cheeseburgers, and my son had the Chicken Fingers. All of us ordered milkshakes. Everything was very very good, but then again we stuck with the basics. In addition the theming of the restaurant was very appealing to us all. "Americana" at its best!

No ? Prime Time. The Food is so much better and it's lots of fun here.:cool1::thumbsup2:banana::worship:

^^^ Hi RoeDisney, we haven't had the opportunity to visit 50s Prime Time. Our visit was short and we had dinner ADRs for five days. We ate at DHS once during our visit. We originally wanted get ressies at the Brown Derby but it wasn't available. That's how we ended up with ressies at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre. We weren't disappointed at all.

We are hoping to go back to WDW next year. Perhaps some pixie dust will blow our way with some nice discount for late June. If that is the case we might be able to book a longer stay, may be a full 7 days at the parks. That would give us the opportunity to make more ADRs and may be we'll be able to try more places at DHS, like 50s Prime Time.

Depends on your mood. 50's is fun with the right server...bad server...boring and IMHO not special vaca food.dependable but not special. Scifi our food was great (some havnt had this experience) and if you can laugh at something so bad its good this is for you. If you pick scifi take photos without flash. They capture the atmosphere so much better.

we have tried both, and much prefered Sci Fi. Atmosphere just great - my son can hardly wait to go back. We also stuck with the basics (burgers) and it was good.

we ate at both in april during our trip. my boys favorite meal of the whole trip was prime time and the 2nd least favorite was sci-fi.{worst meal was espn} my husband and i would have to agree with them. we all had a blast at prime time. all loved our food and the waitress was AWESOME! heading back in december and already made ressies for there and could only hope to have the same waitress. if you choose the prime time make sure to try the to die for peanut butter and jelly milkshake. i have been making them for the boys since we got home.

We did not like the food at Sci-Fi at all. My sister just went last month and decided to just go to Sci-Fi for shakes--that way you get the atmosphere w/o the yucky food. The kids will love seeing Sci-Fi but we prefer 50's.

Can you do that? I was thinking of ordering milkshakes and appetizers, as I don't eat burgers and the rest of the entrees are pricey for lunch. Does anyone foresee a problem with that?
