We are going to WDW 12/10-12/15 and for my daughter's birthday which is the 13 and will be in DHS for her actual birthday (we will celebrate the whole week). We will also be on the QSDP. Here's my question. Where do we eat? I heard the choices at DHS aren't that great. We also want to see the Osbourne Lights turn on for the first time about 6pm. Should we leave the park and eat lunch elsewhere? What about dinner? Help I need option/suggestions on what to do? :confused3

Thanks.

I'm going to move this over to the restaurant board for input.

But before I move it, I'll say that I have had some good meals at the Commisary at DHS. I had an amazing chicken sandwich there, which was the best counter service meal of my trip last May.

It always baffles me when people say the food is not good at DHS. We actually plan 2 days there just for the food and our dining plan. We love 50's Prime Time Cafe and Mama Melrose's. My kids would tell you that milkshakes at the first are a must and my DH would say that the cheese cake in Mama Melrose is "to die for." An exaggeration, of course. Kevin, the waiter we had last time we went there, had suggested it, using that exact phrase, and my DH and oldest DS agreed. The food was fantastic, too. 50's was fun and the fried chicken was excellent. For buffets, Hollywood and Vine was good as well. We like to do one of those and then stay for the lights.

There is a cs near Star Tours. It has decent burgers and things similar to Cosmic Ray's at the Magic Kingdom. We liked it. We used to like the Commisary, but they changed the food. It is now a different menu we don't prefer. I wouldn't recommend leaving to eat if you want to see Osbourne. The lights are awesome! You could get a snack and eat a late dinner if it doesn't look good to you.

without question STARRING ROLLS (next to the brown derby).

Lunch starts at 11:30 (we camped out there waiting for it to start 2 weeks ago when we were there). It closes mid afternoon though.

For lunch they have sandwiches with chips or fruit, plus you get a pastry and a drink.
OOP is 9.19 (sandwich combo)+3.99 (dessert)+2.50 (drink).

The sandwiches are turkey or ham and have the most DELICIOUS foccacia bread..soft and lovely and fresh!

The desserts...umm...we had the butterfinger cupcake...one of their cupcakes would be a SPECIAL birthday treat.
It was chocolate cake with a fudge center
about 4 inches high of white icing
everything is covered in a hard chocolate shell
it's all rolled in butterfinger crumbs.

(they have lots of pastry varieties, but this one is something else...4 of us split it).
