DHS Frozen -- I don't think I get it!

I'll preface by saying I've seen Frozen twice. It was cute. I enjoyed it. I'm not crazed about it and really don't understand the hype. Also, I only have sons--11 and 13--who are not the least bit interested in anything remotely "girly". But I've been reading a little about the events at DHS and watched some things on YouTube. I have to admit I just don't get it.

The take along Olaf is a paper cutout on a stick. I guess it would be cool if your picture got chosen for the show. But in and of itself, eh.

Watched the "parade". It was a couple floats and a handful of CMs on roller skates. Seemed to last all of 5 minutes. And judging by the crowds along the way, I'm guessing people lined up for a long time beforehand! Hardly seems worth the effort.

Then there's Oaken's Post. Looks like some scenes where you can take pictures. Go ice skating if you want (added cost!). The "build a snowman" area looks small and not like much at all. Of course, there's also the line where you can join crowds of other people cramming in to buy more and more Frozen merchandise.

I know there's the sing-a-long. And maybe that's fine. My boys were never into that kind of thing, even when they were little, so no real interest there. And then, of course, fireworks---personally, I prefer Fantasmic!

So am I missing a Frozen gene somewhere? I just don't get the hype at all. Seems like nothing more than a thrown-together "package" in order for Disney to capitalize on the continued craze and rake in lots more money in a short amount of time. Which I don't blame them one bit--excellent business plan!

My only hope is that I can get on rides and see shows with less crowds in other parts of the park since everyone will be waiting around for this stuff!

Please tell me I'm not the only one feeling this way!

Disney has missed the boat on offering in-park tie-ins to so many other popular movies, (Enchanted comes to mind.)
that I'm happy they are finally offering something for the millions of Frozen fans.

I think it's a GREAT fit for DHS!

This is dangerous territory...the last thread like this (just earlier today) did not last long before being closed.

But no...you aren't alone.

I'm trying to figure out why Sven isn't the star of the show. THey are really pushing Olaf, and the girls. Sven is great.

But i agree.. Frozen is/was good. but so was the Lego movie, and I loved Maleficent.

Different strokes for different folks is what it basically boils down to.

I agree totally. But it feels like I'm the only one who has absolutely zero interest in seeing/doing any of this! Almost any other show/ride/restaurant/shop or anything else will get mixed reviews, fans and haters, people who rave about it and people are like...eh. This whole Frozen craze seems to have everyone under the same spell!

Couldn't agree with you more we will be skipping these events so hopefully the rest of the park will be more manageable

Are we all now supposed to start a thread every time there is something at Disney that isn't exactly our cup of tea, or interesting to our kids?

Geez, I have a lot of threads to start.

No, you're not alone. I was a bit underwhelmed with what I saw from a family member who is there right now. She hasn't said much either. I'm hoping that it will free up some of the other parts park as well ;).

I'm sure that if my kids where into it, then I would make the effort and go along. Lucky for me they are not interested :thumbsup2.

Well - you and the probably half a dozen other people who have started threads saying the same thing in the last week.

Maybe everyone (but you) hasn't become a crazy Frozen-obsessed zombie. Maybe people just like having new things to do?

I think Disney hit the money with this film with little girls - they get to watch Elsa and Anna as little girls (I would love a pre-quell of just them as kids) and they can relate to other little girls. It was golden for them.
Those of us just watching the movie without little girls in the house are going to see it as another great Disney movie, but its those kids that are in love and the parents buy into the hype for them. My daughter was huge into Belle and beauty and the beast, and we had EVERYTHING B&B in our house - and its a big deal for my 18 yr old and I to go dine at Be Our Guest and will probably get more out of that experience than one of the little girls who are big into Frozen! Its a generation thing!

You aren't alone! I'll even dare to say this because I sit safely behind a computer and I don't need to worry about "Olaf on a stick" being thrown at me: The movie was just ok and Olaf annoyed me. I did like Sven though. But everyone likes different things. I personally love the Muppets :)
