That is one of the rumors. One of the plans for Star Wars land had it expanding out into the parking lot and with, presumably, a lot of extra guests visiting to see the new land they would need to increase the parking considerably.

And they are creating a shuttle system like at Orlando airport with automatic loading. You enter the shuttle, the windows are screens. As you take off, you make preparations to jump to light speed. The next thing you know you are disembarking outside of Star Wars with the theme music playing and Stormtroopers guarding the entrance.

Just kidding.

But it would be cool. Except nobody would ever take the busses. :)

Not just one but two separate garages.
Ok just to be clear since there already is a parking garage backstage, this one is for the guests right?

And that actually sounds awesome about the shuttle system. I know that was a joke but trying to picture it not only sounds fun but ridiculous as to why it would exist :D

Yes this would be for guest parking.

It has been confirmed by multiple insiders that there will be Parking Garages at DHS..two I believe.

Probably a really dumb comment, but it's too bad they didn't enhance the Backstage Tour, re-imagine the Streets of America, and build the Star Wars land around Echo Lake. Would have meant more attractions for the guests.

In other words ---

A Star Wars version of Universal's Hogwart's Express.

It has been rumored by multiple insiders, making it a credible rumor. It's not confirmed until Disney announce it.

My wording was quite intentional.

As @lockedoutlogic says "Trust only the shovels". It makes me feel more confident in a phase 3. They aren't spending the money to rip that down so quickly just to use the space for staging. They have a plan for something to go back there. Disney never rips something out until they need the space - especially not that fast. (See Skyway stations, 20,000 leagues lagoon, Wonders of Life pavilion, River Country.)

There is no indication that they are spending extra money to get this ripped down "quickly". This is the demolition of a single structure done by a single contractor with a small crew and has progressed at right about the pace you would expect. Yes, the fact that it's being taken down now does indicate they need the space, but nothing we have seen indicates whether the space is needed for staging or construction of Phase 3. Having this be the construction staging area for TSL actually makes a lot of sense since it sits directly between where the land will be and the construction access entrance that will be built where the red arrow is.

I think they are being proactive and just clearing this now to save on work cost send time later. I don't think it's indicative at all of "plans"

This is all part of the plan. As Dan posted above they are putting in an access road. The canyon needed to go for this. From what I've heard once the April closures happen demo will be happening in more areas.

And when they get the bulldozers on the streets of america, then that will free up some serious land

I don't know I think Lights Motors Action will free up even more land than the streets

The space for LMA is much, much larger than the space JUST for Catastrophe Canyon, which isn't really all that big. The space for the entire back-lot tour is pretty big, and when you combine that with LMA and Streets of America, the space that will be freed up is quite massive.

Disney filed for a modification to the access road permit.

They added a conveyor belt to carry dirt to the rentention pond area that will later be used for fill. The changes have also reconfigured the road a bit.
