DHHI pool and beach house question

We leave for Disney HHI in less than two weeks and my daughter keeps asking how we will get into the pool area and beach house without magic bands (she was hoping we would get a set of the new ones, but I keep telling her no magic bands at DHHI). Do we just use our room card to swipe? Is it not locked and therefore not really private access- seems unlikely? Guard at door maybe?

Vero Beach requires you to scan your room key, so I would suspect that Hilton Head is setup the same way.

MB's are really just another form of room key or key card. They have other longer range technology that allows on ride photos to link up immediately etc. but they are mostly just a room key you wear on your wrist. Before MB's you used your key card for entry to things and like Michael I also suspect that is what it will be at HH

Yes you need your room key to enter the beach house at HHI, both from the parking lot and the beach side. So don't put it in a locker at the beach house then go down to the beach without it.

You can charge to your room with it just like a magic band as well.

Yes, just your key card. Its a locked gate from the parking lot, no guard unless they've changed it recently. There's also a van that will take you to the beach house as well. And as above if you go down to the actual beach there's gate too. Our first time there my daughter wanted to play on the playground so I took her down there without thinking, no phone either. I looked like a crazy person trying to get back in and yelling my DH name. I don't remember how I got back in, I think someone felt sorry for me and let me in. So moral of the story keep it with you at all times.

Ohhh thank you! I wouldn't have thought about bringing the card with me if one of us is at the pool or in the beach house and another takes the kids to the beach/sand area. Maybe I should dig out my old lanyard I used to wear around the parks pre-magic band.

Yes, I made that mistake which is why I mentioned it. My husband took 1 kid up to the bathroom while I stayed on the beach with the other child. Of course since he took the key card, remaining child had to potty as well after they left but we had no key card. We made sure we both had cards on us after that. A lanyard could be a good idea since you already have it.

I don't know if they always do it but we went early April last year and it was really uncrowded. around 1:00 every day around the beach pool they gave away free dole whip samples.
We bought one at 12:45 one day and they looked at us like crazy people at the counter but didn't say anything. Then while eating it, realized why. The rest of the week we tried to head back up to the pool for a break from the beach around that time. So maybe you'll luck out with a free surprise treat if you time it right.
