He says we need more points!:lmao: Gotcha'! I've been after him all week to study the points charts. I truly think we need 250, but he's being very good about making sure I am not getting in over my head! So, we had the contracts sent for 160.

Supposed to look over them, and sign this weekend, right? Today, he starts looking, and realizes that we don't have enough (duh!) He wants 200. Okay, so it's not the 250 we need, but it will get us our week at WDW in June, and a long weekend or 2 in HHI depending on room size, 6 vs 7 nights at WDW, and the view at BLT.... We know we'd like at least 300, but we can ALWAYS add on! We won't be going anywhere this year, so we'll get to bank 200 points... Guess we'll get another FedEx box next week!

I would consider doing an add-on or just get 2 contracts now. My only DVC regret is that I bought my 250 BWV in one contract. If I would have split it into 150 and 100, I would sell the 100 now and buy 100 GCV points. It will give you more flexibility if you change your mind in the future.

:thumbsup2 This is great advice. DH and I were talking about adding on and he insists when we add that we add on to SSR- he :lovestruc SSR. When the time gets closer I will heavily suggest GCV if they are not sold out by then. Being in Utah it would be nice to have some points for Disneyland too. :cloud9:

You got me!!!!:)

Congratulations on the add-on before the first contract. I think that is a new add-on record,:rotfl:

We originally started with 160 at BLT...I talked my BF into 200 and we finally decided and signed at 210 points. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I agree with Debbie. Get it broken into two contracts.

Also you may want to consider just purchasing a smaller contract a first, and that will give you a year or two, and a trip as well, to decide if you want a different home resort or more points at your first home. If you go every year you can easily alternate between two resort every year with banking and borrowing. This assures you have that 11 month booking window for some popular times/views at 2 different resorts.

I too agree that you need two contracts. However, I would plan on the future--for your two children (or at least it looks like you have two based on your signature). If you have two equal contracts in your will you can have them each inherit one half of your points. Or later in life, turn over the contracts, one to each child.

Or you could get even more points and go 160 each---Hmmm. It a shame money isn't unlimited isn't it?

Beware of this advice! It is actually great advice, but it could lead to what happened to me... Bought a 100 point BWV resale and before it even closed I was working with my guide on a 320 point add on at BLT (100/100/120)! I could not pass up the great deals being offered on the webcast, so I just decided now was the time to get what I really wanted!!

THanks for the advice, I am always open! The reason we wanted to go up to 200 was that currently a studio MK view at BLT is 183 when we have to go... wanted a little wiggle room, knowing that's what we would go for most. Since BLT takes the most points, I hate to be short if another point shift occurs. We will probably buy a smaller contract at HHI at some point, but money is a consideration!

We were trying to decide between buying a 175 point BCV contract and a 170 point VWL contract. We decided on the BCV contract, and before even signing the contract, called the reseller back and bought the VWL one also. We haven't closed on either contract yet, and have already decided that we need one more contract of around 150 points, at least. We have not decided which points to buy for our third contract. We will "own where we want to stay", twice over, so it may not be as important where the points for the 3rd contract are located. We have decided that buying points could become addictive.

It sounds like you are ready to make BLT your DVC Home and it sounds like you have a great plan. It looks like a great resort.

We purchased 300 BCV points in one contract not really thinking too beyond that purchase. In hindsight I wish we had purchased ~150points at BCV and then in another year or two purchased another 150 point contract at a different resort (perhaps VWL ). That way we could alternate stays at our home resorts by using banked or borrowed points to and retain use of the 11 month booking window. Since we need to travel on school breaks that window is important to us.
