DH won't go on some rides

We're going to WDW the 1st week of August. DH is a wuss when it comes to certain rides. I , on the other hand, love all rides! Usually when we go to amusement parks, DH waits in line with me and when it's our turn to ride, he scoots right across the car and waits for me by the exit ramp. Will we be able to do this at WDW? What about on Fasttrack rides? Can he get a Fasttrack and do his usual dash to the exit? It's only the 2 of us and I hate to spend time on line alone while he sits on a park bench waiting for me.

Most of the rides have an exit if you change your mind. I don't think he can just sneak across on some rides as you don't exit where you board the ride. But w/ TT you should get in the single rider lane. I shouldn't take you that long. And a little note for your DH I myself am a "wuss" on a lot of rides. I don't to rollercoaster, or ToT but I do LOVE TT. It really isn't that bad. My mother drives worse than this!LOL!!!!

This shouldn't be a problem. Just let them know you are doing a "child swap" with a very big kid!

There is som much to see though, I'd suggest getting cell phones or walkie talkies and letting him roam while you ride.

I'm a ride chicken too, but do let him know that most of the WDW rides are much milder than what you'd find at Six Flags, etc.

I just went through our list of rides and these are the ones that I have on my must ride list that DH is worried about.......

Big Thunder Mountain....he went on it 2x....once as a kid and once as a teen. Hated it both times

The aerosmith coaster in MGM-refuses to go on a ride that makes you go upside down

Mission Space-he read the description of the ride and said nope! not happening

Soaring-he is worried about the height....he has a slight fear of heights. Still not sure if he will try it out.

Everything else he is okay with....so far. He's been to WDW 9 times...the last time was his junior or senior year of high school so he's ridden Space Mt. and ToT before and likes them. And when he watched the planning DVD, he was okay with all the other rides.

That's okay. Not all rides are thrill rides. There are many great shows that DH will enjoy and get his $$$ worth.

Hi akayf. My DW has a terrible fear of heights and she loved Soarin. Just make sure you get seated in row 3. It is the closest to the ground when the ride starts.

your hubby is so nice...I make my DH wait alone in lines for rides I won't go on! heheheh

Make him go on Soarin. It is not scary at all and is a really fabulous ride.

On MS, he can go through the pre-flight warm up with you. Tell the CM he wants to do the first part, but not the ride itself, and they will have him stand in the middle lane. I've seen lots of people do this, so he doesn't have to feel weird about it.

Don't say you're child-swapping a big kid, as that isn't the case. The FP lines move so fast, I would just go by myself (and maximize the FP by using your dh's card to get another one at the same time--like Splash and TM, which are right next to each other). When my dh sits out some of the coaster rides, I use the FP and he goes and eats an ice cream or something--it should only take about 10-15 minutes max. to stand in line and do the ride.

Have fun!

Yes, I admit it I am a ride chicken & we do the cell phone thing. I will have a coffee or light snack while waiting for the guys & always find someone pleasant to chat with. I will also go & do the more sedate rides or attractions. I do find that using earplugs can take some of the edge off the rides as many of them rely on 'impulsive' noises or loud volume to startle.
I would love to ride all the rides & if I knew where all the scary stuff was I would. Have done ToT & may do it again. I really hate being so jumpy

I roam while my crew rides. They ride, I shop. :goodvibes They call me on the cell phone when they're done and we meet up. I don't do TOT or Mission:Space - I know my limits. I ride everything else.

If he doesn't want to ride the scarier rides, just let him ride the more kid friendly rides while you ride the bigger ones. Of course cell phones help tremendously.

Though he sounds like my DH. After riding SM once in November, and TOT once this past May he decided he'd had enough. Of course he said he did feel like a wuss when he pushed our DD up in her wheelchair at SM and she hopped out ready to RIDE and here he took the chicken exit. He definitely wondered what anyone thought who saw that...the 4'8" kid riding and the 6'5" dad chickening out.:)

Your DH sounds reasonable. Mine, on the other hand, has issues with flying. I've insisted that he must do so in order for us to go. Who wants to drive for 10+ hours one way (I have no idea really how long it would take to drive it) wasting 2 days of your vacation in the process?! Not to mention being tired the next day. NO. I say we're flying and that's the end of it!

He's flown once in a single engine Cessna...that time we had to turn around and land after a couple of minutes in the air. I went back up straight away though. It didn't bother me having to go back. I love the taking off part!! His second time, he flew to Miami on a big airliner (he thought he could handle a big plane better). He wanted me to shut the window. I didn't of course. He sat there leaning forward, ringing his sweating hands. If I sound uncaring, I don't mean to. I understand he has some form of motion sickness. BUT, we NEVER go anywhere!!!!! We rarely leave the county. I flew every year as a child. Since I've been an adult, I've flown 2 times (above). But, hey, he offered to take us to South Carolina to buy some fireworks for the 4th this weekend. Progress?

BTW, we took our DD to Busch Gardens, Williamsburg this June....one day. First time in 3 years since we've been out of NC.

Sorry, this kinda got off topic. I had to vent. ;)
