I complained that my DH wasn't participating in the planning process for our Dec. trip. Well suddenly I get "Let's try the BC." He says we should try it because of its location and SAB. Both are great reasons to try BC or YC. However, our princesses are going to be 10, 6, and 4 in December...translation, we'll be doing the MK a lot. AND, although I am dying to try SAB, I do not think a December trip should be planned around the pool. We no doubt will swim no matter what (we're northerns), but if temps are low, not much. Our last trip, Dec 2001, we tried the Poly for the first time. Tahiti longhouse...Castle/Space Mountain view...paradise! Not too Christmasy, I'll admit. But we all loved it! I was really hoping to go back there at least once more. At some point a split stay will be something we'll try, but with the ages of the kids, not this trip. It would be too much packing and unpacking for me.

What argument do I use to convince DH?

P.S. This may all be mute...without goos codes or AP rates we're going to the Dolphin with gov't discount.

You are correct to not pin on SAB in December with weather flucuations.

Poly is great but maybe allowing DH to pick BC/YC will get him more engaged in the process...??

Thanks

I think you put it best in your post. The princesses are young and you'll spend most of your time at MK. We will be staying at the YC in mid Oct. Previous we've been Poly people. Now that our DS's (the princes) are 9, 12 and 15. Their fav parks are Epcot and MGM. That's why were staying at the YC not the Poly. It's all about convenience.

Here's a tip I use. We always come in one day earlier than our trip starts (I like to get a full day out of my pass). I always just book a room only and we do downtown disney. That allows us to try new places for just the night. I don't unpack I pack a dufffle bag with just what we need in it. The next day we simply check into our hotel.

While I am a huge fan of the YC/BC under your conditions, a monorail resort would probably be more convenient for you if you plan on visiting the MK more than the other parks.

On our first trip to Disney with our DD's, they were 9 and 6 and we stayed at the POR. We took buses everywhere and didn't have a car rental. We managed fine, but we visited all the parks equally. The girls actually like the bus ride experience. However, adding a 4 year old in might make a difference.

December is not always warm enough for swimming, so to stay at the BC and not be able to enjoy SAB would be pure torture! If you were visiting during a warmer month, then I would definitely recommend the YC/BC because your girls would love the pool! We always see alot of younger children at SAB during the summer, enjoying the sandy beach pool, digging with their pails and shovels. Good luck making your decision!

We've stayed at the Poly 12 or 13 times, so you know where my loyalties lie. We've also stayed at the BWI 6 times and DL once. I love BWI also but always wanted to try BC.

We've split our stays many times. If you're going to be there 6 - 8 days or longer it's really not much of a problem. You can get most of your MK touring done while at the Poly and make a few trips back while at the BC.

On the day we're changing resorts we get up EARLY, pack up and have the luggage taken to our car. You can also have your luggage moved to your next resort for you, I just prefer to have it with me. We then drive to our new resort and check-in, they'll hold your luggage until your room's ready. After check-in we get b'fast and hit the parks.

Believe it or not, a couple times our room was ready when we checked in at 7am.

I'm hanging my hat on the "can't be sure of the temp. in December" argument. SAB is reason enough to try BC/YC during a warmer month, but not December.

His latest BC/YC "pro" is that with shorter park hours in December we'd have more to do in the evenings in the "Epcot Resort area." I am telling you, be careful what you wish for. I am longing for the days of him being less involved with WDW planning decisions. Just kidding... I like this debating. He is making me stay on my toes. I bet there isn't a poly "pro" that I haven't thrown at him!

I think your husband is right. Try a different resort. You're from the N, I'm sure you'll use the pool. A lot more to do in the EPCOT resort area. You wanted him to get involved and there really isn't a good reason not to try a different resort BUT
I think this whole debate is a waste of time. You said you're going to stay in Swan/Dolphin on a gov't rate unless you can get a great rate at POLY or BC/YC. Even with AP rates/codes the Disney Deluxe will cost at least $60 /night more.

Since cost is a factor go with the Swan/Dolphin. I'm sure you won't have any trouble spending the money saved (at Disney or at home).
