DH to be promoted to Captain!!!

I just have to share!!!

DH just received word he is to be promoted to the rank of Captain! He has been with his police department for 17 years and this is a BIG promotion. It's the last promotion based on testing (after this it's all political) and it's only two more steps till Chief (somehow I don't think that's going to happen.)

Anyway - I am jumping up and down and I kind of like the dancing banana....

My dad stayed at Seargant his entire career because he didn't want to deal with all of the politics above the rank, plus it was more paperwork and less field action. Oh, and the fact, at least with his department, that above the rank of Seargant you could no longer get overtime

DH is second in command of his police department and he is "only" a Sgt. Oh the joys of working for a small agency. At least he still receives overtime pay.

That is great!!! Congrats to him, and you! We're still waiting for Sgt. promotion here, but he's in the big city, things work a lot slower, unless you "know the right person!" But he's on the list, and probably in another 2-3 classes and he'll make it!
