My DH used to take karate a long time ago and was up to a purple or blue belt. He stopped not long after we had DD#1 in 1992. Started his own business in 94 and you know there's not much time in the day when you do that.
Well even though business has been really difficult (home remodeling) since 9/11, he made a resolution for 2002 to get back into karate. He has been going 3 mornings a week to an adult class after he gets the girls off to their schools and DS to my mom's house (preschool at first, now PM kindergarten). He has only missed for our WDW vacations and if I needed him to do something with the kids (preschool graduation, eye dr.--they always come first if need be, but even then if they need appointments I try to do it on the days he does not have class). This has been for two years now, and tonight he finally tests for his black belt! He is really nervous, and says we can't go because the test lasts 3 or 4 hours--at the end anyone who wants to spar him is able to! I just hope HE'LL be able to!
Tonight I'm taking the kids to an afternoon class (the girls are blue, DS is yellow--he started later and in all honesty they don't really like it much and only get there about once a week but do it for their daddy) and the kids are going to put up a couple of signs that say "Good Luck Daddy!"
