DH so bad with gifts...is this okay?

So, I have said before, I have a great DH, but he is just SOOOO bad at gifts. I have tried everything.

Again, at valentines day, he gives me the exact same box of chocolates he got me the past two years and they are all hazlenut flavored and I drop hints throughout the year how I hate hazlenut.

So, anyway, after christmas I went on a mini shopping spree and bought myself all the stuff I wanted for christmas while it was on sale.

And for valentines day, yesterday I went out and bought myself some pretty matching bra and panties sets at victorias secret for myself for valentines day.

Well, I spend WAYYYY more than DH ever would on a gift for me, but I feel like I kind of deserve it and am kind of punishing him by spending money.

Is this wrong????

If you're doing it to punish him, than I think you're motives are wrong.
But otherwise, I think you've come up with a great solution. One I used to do too.

I think it's fine. I think also, it what I probably should have done. My DH didn't buy me anything for Valentines day. Not even a card. I gave him one and he said what did you do that for? We're not going out and I know for a fact that there is nothing up his sleeve. It's just the way he is and I've come to accept it.

Sounds fine to me! I wish I thought of it myself. DH is on his way home from work now. He'll be 5 minutes later than usual since he has to stop and pick up a card from him and DS for me

But atleast my Dad sent me flowers yesterday!

I think that some peole have a problem with the "Hallmark Holiday" things. My DH and I don't make a big deal out of V-Day...he gets me flowers(yellow roses...my favorite) and a nice card, and I get him a little gift too usually, depending on what he's "into" that year or whatever. But if he never got me anything other than a card, I'd be happy because throughout the whole year, he's thoughtful, kind, considerate, dependable and treats me wonderfully.

The "big show" for V-Day wouldn't impress me if, for the rest of the year, the guy was an idiot.
