He was going 49 in a 45 speed zone!!! A WHOPPING 4 miles over the speed limit! THey gave him a warning. Thank heavens they stopped him, he darn near broke the sound barrier with that one.

:D
Did the police have to pursue him for several miles in order to catch up to him to pull him over?
Pam

You shouldn't let him back on the road - he's a menace.;) ;)

Yep, I agree...someone must have been very bored.

I played golf with a highway patrolman not long ago, they have a saying for the mph over the speed limit they will pull people over for:

8 - is fine....
9 - you're on the line....
10 - you're mine.....

I agree
4 is a little harsh.

What a maniac ;) My husband got a ticket for going 6mph over. It was just outside Dickson, TN. He is still pouting about that one.

They definitely must have been bored, 4 over the speed limit is like nothing. I know that cops in our area don't really pull anyone over unless they're more than 10 above the speed limit.

I'm really surprised that they'd pull him over for 4MPH. Usually you hear that they'll "give you" at least 5 in case the calibration is off.

Well you know, rules are rules.... Im kidding! ;)
That is crazy! At least he didnt actually have to pay a fine for that.

If you think that's harsh, my DD got pulled over election night because the cop said his license plate was hard to read. DD told the cop the plate was from 1988 and there was nothing he could do about it because the state wasn't issuing new license plates for pickup trucks until next year, at the earliest. I think this guy was EXTREMELY bored and fishing for a DUI. It's guys like this that gives cops a bad rap!

That's incredible that the cop would do that. I have to agree he must have been bored or had a quota to fill (yes, in some places they are real).

I was doing about five over the limit today and was passed by a cop doing a bit more than I was. I know he wasn't going anywhere important because he stopped at the next red light and waited for it to turn green. If I was doing five over, he was probably doing about eight or ten over.

You actually don't know if he was going somewhere important. Sometimes they are told to step it up but not code or lights and sirens (need either of these to clear intersections).

As for me I am happy to see police officers driving over the speed limit because then at least they are not holding up traffic. People drive like morons when they see a police car.

Oh and here you get 10 to 15 mph before they stop you. The 4 mph is strange, depending on conditions.

Isn't that CRAZY?????:jester: DH is still wondering why. Once, a long time ago in Michigan, he was going 15 miles OVER the speed limit, and people were still zipping right past him. A police officer actually pulled him over and cautioned him that he better start moving with traffic (ie speed even more) because it was unsafe!!!!!

LOL, PrincessVija, I'll bet that was on I-96 probably going toward Detroit

My mistake for not using the word "Probably". I was using the fact that he spent a couple of minutes waiting for the light to change as an indicator that no one was being robbed, shot, stabbed, mugged, etc in the nearby vicinity.

Didn't mean to raise any hackles

That's one thing I love about NC! ;)

That was a bit harsh!

Are you going to take the kids to see their Daddy in Jail?

That is so funny! Glad he didn't get a ticket though. I hope that 'warning' he received will keep him in line now!

I know I got a ticket for going 7 miles over the limit. I was driving my Firebird at the time and I was doing 62 in a 55. I still drive at least 5 miles over the limit.
