DH "not excited" about WDW trip !

He likes beer and golf! I like neither!

Let him golf for a day or two and you do your thing.... as long as he doesn't mind golfing with strangers. DH goes golfing twice every trip by himself and I get to go to the spa!!!!! It's a great compromise and nice to have that little alone time.

i will vote for leave him home....if not excited go and do something later he and you will enjoy

This reminds me of a commercial Disney had a few years ago where a girl shows up with her DH (maybe DBF). He was pouty and dragged behind her but then ran into Mickey Mouse (I think it was MM). Anyway by the end of the commercial he was running around with Mickey Ears on and sad to be leaving.

Anyway, I decided to respond because someone had asked about the Dolphin experience at Epcot and I didn't notice that anyone responded to it. We did that last time we were there and my DH still thinks of it as one of the best things he has ever done. You meet a cast member at the gates near the monorail station in the morning and they take you through a back door to the Living Seas. You get to see up close and personal the back stage areas of this pavillion complete with feeding stations etc. They tell you a lot about how they work to insure that Man and Dolphin can co-habitate in FL. Then you go to the back stage area on the Dolphin side of the big Living Seas tank. You do some more talking and are then put in wetsuits. They take you into the Main Tank area and you walk out onto the top of an observation window (it is an observation window below but a sitting area in the water above). The Dolphins come over and you get to hold them and touch them and they roll over so you can see all there various parts etc. They are not forced to participate but the two Dolphins there when we were were total hams. They would run up and splash us and when we were holding them they would lean into us like a littl hug. You could feel how powerful they were - SOLID MUSSCLE. At the end you are given a video and T shirt.

Another suggestion for the beer lover in him is the Drink Around the world at Epcot. I have heard that people go from country to country and have one drink and/or food item from each. I don't think I could make it but it might be fun to try.

We have also done the all day behind the scenes tour that goes to the utilidors at MK, backstage at several attractions at Epcot and the Studios and has lunch along the way. He loved that too. He lilkes to see how things tick.

Finally (I PROMISE). We did the behind the scenes at AK. There were only four of us on the tour that day so it was great. The went to the food prep stations, conservation station, the Elephant houses and at one point demonstrated how to find "tagged" animals when researching in the field. My DH got to put on the head phones and use a receiver to zero in on a stuffed animal that was hidden in the bushes. He had a blast.

Where would he rather go on vacation? If he's been on Mission Space, then I guess you've been to WDW already this year. Maybe you can go somewhere he wants this time. :D

I agree with Bojangles- Maybe it's time to take a WDW break and let your DH pick a vacation spot.
I love WDW, but my DH really only enjoys going every few years. He's looking forward to our trip in a week, but mostly because of how excited our DD and I are. He, also, plans some things that he enjoys. He hates AK, so he and our DS will go to the HOB Gospel Brunch while my DD and I enjoy AK. Our DS is 19 now so they also plan to try out PI while DD and I do something special.

I think last year, although I ENJOY the planning aspect of the trip, My hubby got so tired of it! Between paper chains and family planning meetings, watching our videos (both planning and regular movies) and just immersing ourselves in Disney prior to the trip, he was pretty much done before we ever hit the first park!!

This year, mum's the word. I'm not talking about anything that is planned and although I might ask if there is anywhere anyone wants to eat or go specifically, I'm not letting any of them in on what is in store. I've got some events planned that we haven't done before as a group and for anyone who is old enough, there is also some magic just for them alone. There will be a little unknown excitement every single day. And although I've been planning for a bit now, hubby has only been asked a couple questions and I"m hoping to keep it that way!!

Good luck with your planning and I hope you also come up with some magic!

I had posted this thread and forgotten about it. I can't post from my home computer. I have to do that from other computers!

It's funny because, he's the one that used to get excited and had to drag me along cuz I didn't do rides. Now after multiple trips I'm just getting the hanging of surviving the attractions. Soon our kids won't want to do WDW or even vacation with us. I figure we can do other vacations at that point.

What other vacations can come close to satisfying dd's age 8 and 12. If it were strictly up to me, I'd just head to Hawaii and sit on the beach for two weeks. He'd be bored. On the other hand, maybe he needs a boring vacation in order to regain an appreciation for WDW.

My DH isn't interested in Disney and usually doesn't go with us. This time we split up the trip between St Augustine, Universal and WDW and he was eager to go. He really liked exploring St Augustine, seeing Universal a little since he'd never been and hung out in the hotel rather than go to any Disney parks even though he did check out Downtown Disney. DH does enjoy trying restaurants and bars and shopping a little and he loves pools so there are ways to keep him happy while we play.

N. Michigan,
I have a thread going that's very very similar to this. Help my hubby or something. . .

Reading him the kind comments from everyone is helping him get excited, but everything is dependent on this trip, also! If he has a great time, we go back. . .if he doesn't have a good time, it'll be difficult for me to even get back there without him.

Anyways, I can't imagine him nOT having fun once he's there. . .has your husband been there?

Mine hasn't. . .was never interested for many reasons. Anyways, hit that other thread. ..maybe some of those comments will help.
Good Luck!

I think tours are a great way to keep guys entertained. Going behind the scenes and learning how things work give you a whole new appreciation for WDW. Maybe the steam train tour if your DW is in to that...

What 's the living seas dolphin tour?

Your DH and mine should hook up to drink beer and golf. When are you going?
My DH thinks once at Disney is enough. I've dragged him there a half dozen times over the last 8 years. This year it's 2 days in Disney, 5 days in other parks. Although I may sneak in another day at Disney while he golfs. ;)

The living Seas dolphin tour is where you get to dive in the tanks with the dolphins at the Living Seas. I think it's about $180.

Does he go on other trips that he loves and you don't. Maybe he will be happy if you are happy at Disney. I hear there is lots of golf in Orlando! I hope the trip works out and you both have fun. :)

Other big questions are ....Where are you staying and Is the only thing he likes revolve around"thrill rides" ??
For our family going to WDW has really not a lot to do with "thrill rides"....we enjoy other aspects as well as just staying at one of the beautiful resorts....
Maybe you could actually "plan less" ...have afternoon drinks by the pool...go to the Espn one night and just enjoy the all around atmosphere. Some times planning every aspect can actually ruin it! I also agree that if Golf is his thing...it should be looked into.
Good Luck with everything!!
