You know, I don't ask for too much but you could have emptied the laundry hamper and washed some clothes today. DH is retired on disability. He has chosen to do all the laundry at our house, because it's one of the few household jobs he can do. I am very grateful for that because I work full-time.

Today, I worked. Then I came home, picked up DD17 and took her to the doctor, returned home and made a nice dinner. After dinner, everybody made scarce. I asked for some help but no help was forthcoming. Rather than leave fishy dishes around, I loaded the dishwasher, washed some pots by hand, and wiped up everything. Then I helped DD check on a couple of colleges. After the nurse left, I also fed Christian his snack and meds and put him to bed.

Just now I checked my closet to pick out my scrubs for tomorrow. No scrubs. I check all the clean laundry baskets. No scrubs. What do I behold in the hamper? Four sets of scrubs from last week! :headache: So, at 9:30pm I am washing scrubs. Geez Louise... give me strength...

My number ONE pet peeve. Oh my goodness, don't get me started.

I think the hamper seizes to exist to men, a full hamper for sure, unless there is something in their that THEY need.

i feel your pain!

saturday i ended up folding 2 baskets AND 3 laundry bags. there's still another load that was left in the dryer.

hubby was off on friday and i asked him to fold just a few things. NOOO so he heard it when he got home saturday. not to mention he's had to give me a few back massages from lugging the laundry up and down over the baby gate!

My husband does 99% of the cooking, cleaning and laundry. He fixes anything and everything that breaks from the plumbing, to electrical, to the cars, to carpentry and everything in between. He works 9 hours a day 5 days a week programming for a major southeast lending institution's IT department, and then comes home and does my share of the farm work because I haven't been cleared to go back to work by my surgeon for a few more weeks (and DH has been "filling in for me" since April...mucking 15 horse stalls daily). He mows our property and horse pastures (25 acres taking about 8 hours a week), mends our fences etc, and still finds time to download Disney podcasts for me because they make me smile. He programmed my laptop so I could write my novel more easily. He went out and bought me new vertical blinds and installed them for my birthday while I was working at a horse show because I mentioned I'd like them.

Today he dropped everything at work and came running to save me because I was towing a horse in our trailer and blew a tire, which caused the truck to catch fire, which caused the truck to explode. Leaving me, two clients and one horse stranded on the side of the interstate.

So on the rare occassion DH does something untoward, I cut him some serious slack. He's my hero.

Explode?! Catch fire!? Glad to know you're all ok. That's just awful. Time to call it a day.

I love this post. I'm so glad everyone (and the horse!) is okay!

Yeah...it was a surreal and terrifying experience. I'm trying to let it go so I can fall asleep, but I'm a bit wired right now. Shock? I dunno. I was nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs driving home afterwards (in a different vehicle...truck was beyond totalled). Kept waiting for something awful to happen...a crash...another explosion.

The wheel caught fire when the tire blew, fire spread quickly. We got the horse out of the trailer and about 2 minutes later the gas tank caught fire and the truck exploded.

Wow! He's a keeper. Actually, DH is usually pretty good about the laundry. I don't ask him to do much around the house because he simply can't do it. I always thank him for doing the laundry because I really do appreciate it. I"m just aggravated that he had time to go out to lunch with friends, take 2 naps, pick up the dog from the groomer 2 minutes away, and sit on the couch the rest of the evening. I know he sometimes feels bad, but if he had at least told me at 5pm that he didn't get to the laundry, I would have happily done it.I only have 4 sets of scrubs and they were all in the laundry. I'm just aggravated that it's now 10:57pm and I've got to wait on the dryer to get done before I go to bed. I have to get up at 6:15am and I'm usually in bed by now. Erg.

Interestingly, he *did* do a load of towels, which was nice. Too bad I can't wear towels to work

Could you get some big safety pins and fashion them into some sort of outfit? You could say it's all the rage in Milan. ;)

Not to make light of your situation. You have a lot on your shoulders. I hope you are able to get to bed soon.

Minkydog I feel your pain. I am working at a outdoor concert pavilion this summer. Saturday I had to work all day (noon to 11:30) in the heat, humidity and oh yeah 2 thunderstorms. (We did take shelter because of the lightning.) Came home DH made dinner but didn't do the dishes, wipe down the counter, sweep the floor or run the garbage disposal. We have been having a terrible time with ants and he left food sitting in the sink! :scared1: Then when I told him he couldn't do that because the ants will come he said I was crabby! Flash forward to yesterday afternoon (DH has taken this week off of work) he asked me if I was going to work there next summer.

Weird. Vehicles rarely ever explode (except in the movies).

Oh, I have enough scrubs for four weeks or so. Get more scrubs. :thumbsup2
Agreed. Otherwise, one should definitely communicate better when he/she is out of outfits and really need the wash done that day.

It wasn't like the movie explosions though. There was a big "WHUMP" and then a big ball of fire. The truck didn't blow apart like there was an IED in it or anything. I had dual gas tanks and one was full and the other 3/4 full. Pics available on the Horsey thread!

You're way nicer than me. If I had asked for help "but no help was forthcoming", I would have gone to DD and said, "Hi there ... before we check on colleges for you, let's clean up the kitchen." Unless, of course, she was stuck with a bucketload of homework. But then ... come to think of it ... my parents still would have expected me to clean up the kitchen. THat was considered "kids' work." :goodvibes

:earsboy:

I'll tell you the same thing I'd tell a man that was complaining about his wife not doing laundry (and y'all know this would be a totally different thread if that were true), which is if you didn't tell your partner you *needed* something washed, they can't read your mind.

And I'd also remind them they know how to work the washer/dryer. ;)
