DH used my car (older Caddy, but paid off & loving cared for) to work late last night.
Deer materialized out of nowhere. My DH has a CDL & is used to dodging them, luck ran out this time.
Although he's w/o a scratch (thank god!), my car was damaged. It didn't look like much..headlight, scratch on door that was sticking & bent hood. We've run it w/o any problem last night & today.
Took it to Erie Insurance Co. preferred garage...1st estimate came in over the 80% of book!!!!
2nd try, with used parts & eliminating some cosmetic work, is tettering on the brink.
Received a call & told I have to have an adjuster look @/appraise the car's worth in a day or two @ my house.
Not sure if I want to get it fixed or take whatever's offered. The garage estimator said he'd work it however I wanted...I chose the "fixing" option. Anyone else been in the same situation? All advice appreciated...
Especially confused about the appraisal comment, the garage told me they use an Erie computer program that automatically determines the appraised amount...help, I'm confused...agent is clueless (or doing a good job of acting dumb)!
