DH May Be Re-thinking This One...

My DH and I have been blessed with two beautiful, healthy children. For the longest time DH has said, "We're done. We have the perfect family. Why mess with perfection?" However, I've always wanted 3 kids and I still have a very strong maternal longing to have that 3rd baby.

So DH and I were talking tonight about DH's very good friend. They just had their 3rd baby and he was telling me what they named her. Then I told him what name I'd want for a girl if we ever had a 3rd. (Stacy Joy). Then DH said, "Yeah, I've been thinking about that name and how all the Stacy's I know are so sweet." He did NOT laugh me off about my hopes for a 3rd - in fact, it almost sounded like he's considering it!

Now, my DS is 3 and my DD is 1 so I still want to wait untl DD is 3 before trying for #3 - so I figure I have 2 more years to really get him to agree to have the 3rd. But I won't push it - I want him to think it is HIS idea!

I actually got pregnant on birth control with our third daughter (my second, his third...but the first lives with us, so I consider her to be mine). And I thought we were done. I was worried about how we would do it all. I went through weeks of disbelief and it took me months to get used to the idea of having another child.

It's like she's known from the first minute...and she is an incredibly calming force in my life. She's my and my favorite reason to get up every morning. She's happy and funny and a fabulous experience in life. I love her so much!

Good luck to you. Don't push it, because it can cause undue strain on your relationship. If it's meant to be, it will happen.

DH was willing to wait forever before having kids. But once we had a child already he was the one who wanted another.
We were lucky enough to have a daughter so we get to see two sides to childraising.
He says it felt like we were missing something before she was born.
Hope it works out for another baby!
I do feel a tiny bit jealous of families with 3 kids but 2 is our childraising limit in terms of energy and patience (and funds).
