DH is home from Iraq (for a little bit)! Time to Celebrate at Disney! *ON OUR WAY!*

Yay! So glad to have more subscribers! :) Hopefully today I'll have a chance to plot out our days since the big ADR day is on Monday! Hopefully we get everything we're hoping for!

Hi! I love your plans so far! How great your DH gets to come home.:cool1: LOVE your dog! I used to have a basset...she was such a sweetie....I'm working on DH for that to be our next dog...right now we have an big old hound dog mixed with chow and who knows what else! But he is great with our kids.

As for the Flag retreat at MK...there are so many mixed things I have read and been told. Here is what happened to us. I wanted to arrange this for my Dad when we went. I was told you couldn't do it over the phone, dont' know if that is true? But I showed up on the first morning or our vaca at City Hall and they were booked for the entire 7 days out! :confused3 That was in June, a little busier than it will be when you get there. I say try calling any and everybody you can. I hope they can work it out for you!

Thanks to you and your DH for your scarafice!:thumbsup2

Hi! Being a fellow military wife (husband is active duty Navy), your title drew me in. :) Thank you to you and your husband for the sacrifices you make for our country.

Your restaurant choices look great. We love Boma, but have only had breakfast there. Some day we'll try dinner.

Looking forward to reading more!

Who We Are

DH - Andrew - soldier, paratrooper, goofball, Disney fan (thanks to me! ;) ), incredibly supportive husband, devoted doggie dad, and could easily talk to a wall if you asked him...

By the way - I love this picture! I rode a camel in Australia once, but not bareback. Very cool. :thumbsup2

Welcome my fellow military wife! :) We are grateful to you and your family for your service too! It's always nice to meet/talk to other women who have a successful family life in the military. We're thinknig about sticking it out for the long haul so it's nice to to know other people do well!

We are adventerous eaters, so we just LOVED Boma when I went with family this past August. After eating D-FAC Army food for weeks on end, I am sure DH will love it too!

I hope I can can DH in to be veteran of the day. He is always so modest, and I would love to do this for him! Who did you call? Did you call MK once you arrived or did you try before hand?

We adore our basset, but lordy is she a handful! :scared1: :rotfl: She gets into EVERYTHING! She definitely lets me know that we are not ready for kids yet! :lmao:

If you like to travel and like adventure, then the military is a great lifestyle. I get bored easily and start to get an itch to move every 2 years so it works for me. My husband has 4 1/2 years left so we're about at the end.

I'm a HUGE Guinness fan and dh and I ate at Raglan Road on our last trip. Of course I had to have a Guinness while there! The food was also amazing. Here's a link to my entry about Raglan Road in my TR:

That's wonderful that you'll get to visit with your friend while there. :goodvibes And a day off from the parks is always good anyway - to relax a bit.

WOW! Carissa that food looks amazing  and $70 is a lot better than I thought it would be with drinks and an appetizer...Perhaps we really will need to add this to our list! Sounds like you made the ADR for that meal the day, is that true? I am hoping we can do that as well since we're not sure what day we'll be at DTD. Although, I would love to take our friend there. He's very proud of his Irish heritage, and would just love it! :thumbsup2

We never even made an ADR. We just showed up. Two things made that possible:

# 1 - It was in January so a non-busy time to be at Disney World.

# 2 - It was early in the evening.

I was told I had to call City Hall...GOOD LUCK! I tried for days as did my TA! I could never get anybody to transfer me there! I would say if you can't do it from home in advance...try once you arrive. I just worry that the way it filled up in June, once you arrive may be too late. When I tried to tell a CM why I wanted to be transfered they would say "that is a Dream"...no it's not, it is first come, first serve...I have read some places where people have been there at rope drop, ran to CH and were able to sign up...you might not get it for that day, but maybe another?

Not much is new with our trip plans. I was checking out the creative Disigns for some ideas. I think I am going to ask someone to design a shirt for me saying something about my hero/husband coming home from Iraq and heading to WDW, but I think I will undertake that in the new year.

I am also keeping my fingers (and toes!) crossed that the ADR window does not open while I am away on vacation! I will be meeting my family in the Bahamas for some much needed family/relaxation time on Christmas Day, and we'll be staying until New Years Day!

I hope each of you has a merry and joyous holiday and a healthy and happy new year! :santa: :goodvibes

Hello, I was just wanted to say that I'm enjoying your pre-trip report! Also, I absolutely adore Basset Hounds and yours is such a cutie!

I am jumping on board. I have been MIA for a little bit since I took my trip in Oct. I am glad the plans are coming together for your trip for you DH's R&R. WL is a great place that is where me and DH stayed in Oct. I will have to post some pictures here for you but it won't be until mid to late Jan since I am in England right now visiting my DH. Hope you are having a great time in the Bahama's!

Hope your vacation was wonderful. :)

I just found out that active duty military can get a complimentary 5 day pass to WDW and can purchase up to 5 companion tickets for $99 each. Thought you might like to know. :)

Thanks for the info Carissa! I just saw that this morning as well. When I called to pay the balance on our trip, I asked the CM and she said it cannot be combined with the 7/4 deal. Bummer!

I told DH I guess that means we need to head back in November to see the Christmas decor!!! :woohoo: ;)

Awww - that stinks. I had forgotten exactly what you had done and didn't realize it was a package. I'm so excited about this info that I've resurrected my old PTR in the hopes that we may go this year! :)

There is possibly a way around this....Did you get a 7 day ticket with the package? If so you could possibly downgrade your ticket with the package to a 1 or 2 day ticket and then use the military 5 day ticket. You would have to do the math to see if it is worth the money but there may be a savings in there. If you have the dining plan that shouldn't matter either b/c all you need is a 1 day ticket with the package to get the meal plan. Just an idea and something for you to figure out. Does that make sense?

I know this past Oct we had 5 days left over from last year and bought a 1 day ticket and got the free dining for out package...so it is along the same lines. Are you outside of your 45 day? If you have any questions let me know!!!!

Well I did a bad, bad thing and DH was not much help in discouraging me!  :thumbsup2

I booked four nights at POFQ December 7-11 on the military room discount for a whopping total of $402.32!!!!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Adding on the military tickets we can get the room and tickets for just under $600.00! HOLY COW!!!:scared1:  I still can hardly believe it!

Now I can fulfill my dream of going to see the Christmas decorations! I am still in shock!

I'll post more about how our April plans are shaping up soon!
