I know I can count on the disboarders to help me with this new and exciting event in our lives. DH will be going to Australia for work for 2 weeks in early December and I have a few questions...
Disclaimer - I haven't flown since 1979 because I am terrified of it so I don't know how things work any more.

Is there a way to watch an IPOD for the entire day long flight - is there a plug to use to keep it charged or do you know of how to keep the batteries charged?

What will he need to do for a cell phone to call home? Does ATT work there?

How about Money?

And I guess the most important question - What is the weather there now? I know the Wiggles told me that Christmas is sumer time but how hot is it?

Thanks!

The most important question to me would be how could I get to go too ;)

Somewhere we have a battery pack for the kid's Ipod - it uses AA batteries (I think)

Weather - Google

Money - Google

Call your cell carrier

At the apple store - they've got something called "tune juice"

My DD loved having this last year when we went to Europe. She is going again over Christmas. Tune Juice will be on the packing list!

When we were in Europe last year, DH's company "fixed" his blackberry so he could call the states. Nice part, it didn't cost us anything! Since your DH is going on business, maybe his company would get him the appropriate cell coverage???

Also - don't forget to check things like voltage converters - especially if he is going to bring a laptop.

Australia is a fairly large continent, so definitely do a google search for the specific area to check for weather.

And...make sure you know where his passport is or get him to the passport office to take care of this!

Hope he has fun...are you sure he can't bring you too???

I'm in Sydney australia, where is your hubby going. It's a big place and the weather can be pretty varied.

Just like Trish in a previous message, I'm in Sydney. The weather you/he could expect would depend on which city you're going to.

Here in Sydney the temperature could be mild enough to wear a jacket, or so stinking hot that you'd be running from air-conditioned place to air-conditioned place... If he's heading south it could be cooler or hotter, if he's heading north it could also be cooler or hotter :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So I guess my advice would be to be prepared for cool or really really hot...

If he's coming here on business he'll probably want to know that both Sydney and Melbourne are very cosmopolitan and most business men wear dark striped business suits and long sleeved shirts even when it's hot, so he'll need a good anti-perspirant! The fashion at the moment is to either wear the shirt open at the neck with no tie, or to wear a tie that "matches" the colour of the business shirt ie: green shirt = green tie, grey shirt = grey tie

lolol - if your husband is anything like mine he'll just roll his eyes if you give him the advice above :rotfl:

This is a beautiful place to visit - and not bad to live either - I'm sure he/you will have fun.

regards

I am from Western Australia - another 3.5 hours on a plane after you touch down in Sydney or Melbourne.

Food is great with more of an emphasis on flavour and less on volume & fries (chips). While Americans & Aussies speak the same language there are lots of differences, so you have to go with the flow.

Tipping is not the mandatory thing that is in the US as wait staff make a reasonable (but not good) annual income.

I agree with other posters, temperatures in December can get to above 100F and stinky humid. Google a game called Cricket - it is a national sport and is a big thing from December onwards depending on which country is touring at time.:happytv:
