I just wanted to tell all my DIS friends that have been following our 3 year saga. After 3 summers, 8 interviews and a lot of hard times, DH finally got a Art teacher position today. :teacher:

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your support and prayers.

The DIS Rocks!! :thanks: :thanks: :disrocks: :disrocks:

Congratualations and well done, my sister has been a maths teacher for over 12 years now.

:thumbsup2 Congrats to your DH. I am in the same boat right now, substitute taught all of last school year and am trying to get a full time job now (secondary social studies). I have an interview Friday, keeping my fingers crossed!!! pixiedust:

Good Luck!

I had to add this aside:
At the interview the Superintendent asked what DH's email meant. I'd been trying to get him to get a teach one like bestartteacherever@....com, but he left his old one which is a nickname of a WWE wrestler. :teeth: So DH explained that and the principal started talking to him about RAW which had just been in Cleveland the day before the interview. I thought for sure he wasn't going to get it after displaying his love of wrestling, but apparently they either didn't mind or liked it! :teeth:

So always be yourself!

Congrats! I remember his job dilemma last year and the misrepresented teaching role. Glad that he'll finally be doing what he's wanted!

:thumbsup2

Congrats to your DH. It must be a great relief and wonderful feeling of accomplishment for him! Good luck in his new position.

Congratulations and good luck this year. Sometimes the first year of teaching can be a bit hard. Tell him not to take everything personally and he'll have a good year.

I will.
He student taught at the roughest school in Cleveland (drugs, gangs, shootings) and he LOVED it. So I think he can probably handle just about anything!

Oh Sarah, that is GREAT news. I am so happy for you and him!!!!!! Seems like I had my first year of teaching yesterday. pixiedust: and a sense of humor. With these 2, you can do anything :thumbsup2

Thank You!

He was very close to giving up on teaching. It feels so good that he'll be doing something he loves so much!

Congratulations to a "newbie" from a veteran! I was in the classroom for more than 20 years and now work with supporting first and second year teachers in my high school. I love seeing their enthusiasm and helping them learn the ropes and get through the maze of figuring it all out! Our school system has an excellent four day New Teacher Orientation with some time in their subject areas and then they come to me for two days before all the other teachers return to school. Then they get 5 days of in-school pre-service giving them a total of 11 days before facing their first students in the classroom! Far better than the one day of lectures I got many years ago....

Good luck and remember that the kids come before the subject you teach! ;)
