We are to leave for a week on June 13. We have paid in FULL for our tickets, ddp and our camping spot at the Fort. Now all of a sudden he had decided that it will be too hot and wants to change our dates to either the week of Christmas or Mardi Gras next year. He is the one who came up with the idea of Disney and planned the time(he says in Feb when he came decided to go it was not hot here. He is soooo crazy!!!) we are going in June for Star wars weekends. I understand that it will be hot, but we have park hopper tix so we can leave the park around lunch, go to camper rest, nap or swim and take showers then return to the parks around suppertime.
I need help convincing him that changing our plans is NOT a good idea and it wont be that bad.HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

Can you even cancel this late without penalty? Once we set a date the only chance I will change it is to forward. It has been pretty hot this week but Id rather be hot at Disney than hot in Ms.

I guess you could tell him you loose the money if you cancel this late?

Good luck

Well i think you will loose a good amount of the money you already paid...
Also it won't be scorching hot, and if you get up and go early and take a nice break mid day, you you will avoid the hottest part of the day and the crowds...
Do you have children???
Good luck, I wouldn't be a happy person if i was in your situation..lol

Well, aside from the crushing disappointment it would be to reschedule, it can get seriously chilly in Orlando in February. Like another poster said, you'll be OK if you hit the parks early and take a break back at your site after lunch. Take a swim, sit in the shade. Tell DH not only will you have to pay a penalty to WDW for rescheduling, he'll have to pay YOU a penalty fee for your inconvenience and heartbreak!!!

IMO the best way is to give DH the facts.
Call Disney or whomever you made you reservatiosn with and ask them.

First ask if you cancel the rup you have planned and reschedule for another time will you lose any money?

Then find out the cost of the same trip if you went Xmas week ( who knows if there's availability) or Mardi Gras week.

Also research crowd levels at these times - of course the parks will be very crowded during Xmas week and if Mardi Gras falls around Presidents week - it will be crowded then as well.

Sometimes the best way to convince someone is to show them the hard facts and options. I went in Feb. in 2006 and and it was cold then - had to wear 4 or 4 layers and some days I even work gloves.

Maybe if DH sees all 3 options and the costs / changes involved he will come to the conclusion that keeping your original plans is best.

Good Luck

We are in Alabama and this is how DH convinced me to go the last week of June....he had a good point. It's gonna be hot wherever we are....might as well be hot at the most magical place on Earth!!!

Maybe it will work with your DH.

Good Luck!!

Chilly in February? It was darn chilly when we went in April!!!

Seriously, I feel your pain. 11 years ago when DH and I got married, we had a wonderful honeymoon planned. It was a beautiful cruise of the Mediterannean. As time got closer, DH was just not into it. We had a serious discussion about how he did not want to go. I called T/A in front of him, who told me what we would be losing (deposit, etc.). Of course, I played it up to the hilt. Eventually he succombed. We went and had a nice time. Even today, he says he probably didn't enjoy it as much as he should have.

That said, in your situation, I don't think June is that horribly hot. It will be PERFECT pool weather. Christmas and Feb. will be very iffy if you are looking for 'typical' Florida weather.

I would just try to use all arguments as best as possible. Good luck.

I was there for star wars weekend in june last year.. it was hot yes but bearable... but I don't think it was that crowded we stayed away from MGM (or what ever its called this year) during star wars days and had a great time. We'll be going back again that time next year :) We enjoyed ourself!
