This morning I'm cleaning up our bedroom in advance of the cleaning lady's arrival, straightening things up on DH's dresser, and what do I discover? A gift certificate to a garden centre where we spend A LOT of money. Sounds good so far? Just wait! The GC is dated Dec. 18, 2001. In small print below that, it clearly states "expires one year from date of issue". It was for $100.00!

Even more interesting is that it was given to him from some woman who I've never heard of! Maybe that's why it became ....lost..! LOL..

I oughta plant that man! ;) :)

Nah....he's a keeper, Kim......PLANT ONE ON HIM is more like it!!!!

LOL LOL LOL LOL

Yeah! Tell him you and the flower buds wanna know more info on this. :jester:

Okay, this is his story, and he's sticking to it! :smooth:

He had no idea that the GC had expired, and had forgotten all about it. He says he's going to go to the garden centre, explain his forgetfulness (this, even I want to hear!), and throw himself on their mercy, all the while tactfully reminding them of all the money we spend there. This should be interesting...lol... :p :)

The woman? Well...um...er....it's the name of the employee that signed the certificate... :o :jester:

LOL!!! Too funny. Of course, the GC has to be verified by an employee!!

Hope they take pity on your DH and grant him an extension. And I can totally understand forgetting about it. Having been bought in December, obviously nothing would be needed at that time and then you tuck it away for the springtime and, well... forget about it.

So, was it suppose to be a holiday gift for you originally? Do you even remember what gifts he got you that year? LOL!

LOL! Too funny! I want an update on his groveling...:D

Good news to report!! :)

Tulirose, they did indeed take pity on him, and granted him an extension on the GC! :)

Alright!! Another $100 to spend at the garden centre..yippee...:Pinkbounc :) :Pinkbounc

Good for you Snowwark.

I know here in Mass they have to honor a Gift Certificate no matter even if it is over a year old. It is just like cash and it can't expire.

Well at least $100 can buy quite a bit. Happy Shopping.

Thank you Cthia, we will put it to good use! It'll make a wee bit of a dent in the summer garden/yard shopping....just a wee bit. ;) :)

That's too funny!!! Your poor DH...he probably went in there with his bottom lip as far to the ground as possible and really looked pitiful!!!!! ROFL glad it worked out - oh what I could do with $100!!!!
