I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope he got some kind of paperwork showing any severance from the company. Make sure he goes to unemployment immediately -- they're pretty good at disgregarding the b*** the employers try to tell them. My DH has been out of work for nearly a year -- I know your pain!

Have him go to unemployment immediately and state that he was fired. IF the employer is stupid enough to come back with, 'nope, he quit,' then he can ask for copies of his resignation letter. If none can be produced, he can ask for his job back...

He called this morning to ask for a letter of lay off, and they gave him crap and told them they would give him a letter but it woudlnt be what he wanted. I think they want to get out of paying, and just are hateful. He was so upset yesterday he left without anything. Hes sitting at unemployment right now. Told him to have a nice day lol. Poor guy. Stinks for a man who used to work 50+ hours a week to this.

Something doesn't add up. Did they tell him why he was being laid off and/or terminated? From my memory you'e provided a document which states the reason for the end of your employment whether it's due to resignation, retirement, termination with or without pay, reduction in force etc.

Arg! That's just not fair! My husband and I have been dealing with his layoff for months now. I'm sorry you have to go through this, but you are not alone!

Several years ago DH was in a mostly female office and these women could get really catty! He wasn't good at really good at relating and just did his job. One night they asked him to stay late and come into the conference room.

They started on him about how they knew he wasn't happy and he wasn't being a team player, etc. He was very shocked as his numbers were always met (sales job). They had a pre written resignation letter and basically told him either he sign or they call in security and have him arrested for harrassment. He was so shocked and blindsided he signed just to get out of there. It was just him and 2 of the older women.

As soon as he walked out reality hit him. However, he went to unemployment and explained they forced him to quit, he didn't mean to sign but didn't know what was happening. He was afraid they were setting him up to say he was harrassing them.

He got full benefits without any questions! He got a job like 3 weeks later but that was a scary situation.

wow, sounds like someone had it out for him, hope he gets what he needs, he can always send a fax, email, certified return receipt letter to his employer reiterating that when he was fired yesterday, they did not give him anything in writing and he needed it. It sounds like they are going to fight his unemployment benefits, Good luck
