My DH is turning 30 this year, and I would like to throw him a party. Suggestions??? I don't know if I would like to do a daytime thing for friends and their kids, or just and adult thing at night. I would really like to do an adult party with an adult theme, but I know it's somewhat hard for people to find sitters for their children. DH would enjoy either. I was thinking a James Bond theme if I did something at night. Thoughts??? Ideas????

Why don't you have the party at your house? Hire a babysitter, and invite all of the children along. Provide the sitter with Disney movies, pizzas, and maybe some arts & crafts for the kids to do, so that they won't bother you!

Do a James Bond theme! That would be so fun! And get him one of those "Old Guys Rule" t-shirts and make him wear it! I plan on doing that for DH when he turns 30 :lmao:

Indoor slicktrack Go-Karts. They're built for adults and the men love them! We have 2 tracks here in the Seattle area, they're always booked.

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, our house isn't big enough for our family and friends, so we will be renting somewhere regardless of what we do, and there is no "Celebration Station" type event center around us..the closest is about an hour and a half drive :(

We went go-karting for a work outing for DH's company several years ago and we had a BLAST. They also had batting cages, mini-golf, etc. It was a very fun evening.

Personally, I would do an adults party, gather the names of any babysitters you know if people need some help and have a great time. Maybe you could hold it in a party room at a hotel so if people want to they can stay at the hotel too.

it's for your DH I would make the party what he would want. Would he like it with the kids or does he prefer an all adult evening? James Bond? Is that for him? If not focus on what he likes. Too many people get too worried about what is easiest for everyone else. Since out invites in plenty of time and they can work it out.

Have a great time!!!

As a one-time 30 year old father who loves his children more than life itself--it's ok to have an adults-only party for the big 3-0. Preferrably with Hooters girls(you're only young once):)

We hosted a murder mystery dinner for DH's 30th - tons of fun! Several restaurants around here host them on a regular basis.

I wanted to throw my husband's 30th birthday party at Chukee Cheeses, but you had to have at least 1 kid in the party and we, nor anyone that would be going to the party, had kids at the time. We thought it would have been hilarious, but we're odd like that. We ended up having a big party at our favorite restaurant/lounge.

We actually did it here at our house but since you said you didn't have space to host something, I know restaurants/hotels often host them. The Gaylord here offers them - I think on weekends?

I would love to rent a hotel banquet room and do this! Did you put it toether yourself or did you hire someone?

We bought a script from someplace online and I put it together. We actually found it was difficult with a large group of people that didn't know each other. Would have been better if we had a group of friends (who knew each other well) or a smaller group.

We really want to go to a professional one, soon, where the characters do it all and you just participate.
