Too bad I don't want to go to WDW October 1-10. Spirit Airlines (which I've never flown) has round trip tix DFW to MCO for $87.80 per person ROUNDTRIP on Travelocity.

I soo wish that I could take advantage of this but I cant go until next year. But it was so nice to see another Dis member from Fort Worth like me:banana:

I have just heard too many horror stories about Spirit to personally risk it, although that is a pretty low price.
When Spirit first came to DFW, I searched on the Transportation Board "Spirit" and there were less than flattering comments; comments on Google search MUCH less friendly.
Bottom line impression I got was to read the fees on their website VERY carefully. We don't have another airline here in DFW that charges for carry on's as well as checked bags.

I've read a lot of negative reviews of them. I mean I generally take the cheapest flight or the cheapest at the best time of day I can because it's not like anyone is going to go faster or make flying any less of a hassle. That being said, based on people saying there's a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service with Spirit, I'm just not willing to fly with them because if I ever do have a problem I'd like to know it'll be dealt with appropriately and it doesn't seem like Spirit does that based on what I've read.

Hello fellow Texans! I did the same research when Air Tran got pulled out and Spirit came to DFW. However, I decided to give them a chance. I booked a trip for May of that year (less than a month after they first started flying out of DFW) and was pleasantly surprised. I did my research and knew about the check bag fees and knew to bring my own snacks and to grab a beverage before boarding. I signed up on their sight and got a coupon for even more off and was able to get round trip for about $100.00. With the money saved I upgraded to the Big Front Seats. The plane left on time, we even arrived a little early, it was clean, and the FAs were very nice (and even funny). I was impressed. I have used them again last Sept and had the same experience. Since I prefer direct/nonstop flights and the only two airlines that fly nonstop now from DFW to MCO are Spirit and American, our choices are limited. If the price is close I will go with American, but if not I would have no problem flying Spirit again. If I didn't already have airfare booked for both our Sept and Dec WDW trips, I would jump on this deal. I paid $278.00 through American for both the Sept and Dec trip.

From what I've read, if you don't upgrade to a Big Front Seat, you are in for an uncomfortable flight. No leg room in the other seats. I flew them from New York to Fort Lauderdale one weekend and I wouldn't fly them unless I upgraded to the Big Front Seats.

Also, Spirit charges a fee for carry on bags, so the fare might be more once you add in all their charges.

Even better, if you could fly out on Oct 1 and return Oct 8, you can buy tix on Spirit's site for $77.78 round trip.

Or better yet, buy your tix at the airport and save the $3.72 unintended consequences fee and the $33.98 passenger usage fee- for a RT cost of $40.08! At least that is my understanding from reading on the transportation board and other places online. *Adding that Spirit charges fees that most airlines don't- $10 to select your own seat each way; $25 for a larger seat/more legroom; and charges for carry on and checked baggage.

Can you tell I've been stalking Spirit's website? ;) Waiting for these types of fares for our Oct 18-26 trip. If we can get rates this low we will risk flying with Spirit and save ourselves a lot of time on the road (with 5 kiddos).
