Hi

We flying from San Jose to MCO on American and have an hour layover in DFW. Is there someplace near that we can get a bite to eat - since no meal service on our flight :(

Thanks

There are lots of fast food places in the DFW airport. You will probably pass several hiking between gate 1 and 40! (Can you tell that I don't like this airport!) With an hour you won't have time for a sit down meal, but if you are running late, just get your fast food to go and carry it on.

We fly from DFW all the time and it depends on what gate you come into and leave from. AA has two terminal buildings connected by their own tram system with several drop off points in each terminal. If all you have is an hour, you may need it to get to your other gate first if they are far apart, and then look for a quick meal. Here is a link http://www.dfwairport.com/terminals/ to DFW layout and AA's terminals A & C. Hope this helps some.

One hour to change planes on American is actually cutting it kind of close at DFW. That airport is HUGE, and badly organized. In fact, Dave Barry wrote a very funny/sad column on DFW problems a couple of weeks ago, here it is:

(Dave Barry exaggerates, of course, but not by as much as you would wish. IMO, DFW on a cold day could easily qualify as the 9th Circle of Hell.)

Whatever you do, don't take the tram; it's much faster to walk. Wear comfy shoes, it is almost always a serious hike between gates, possibly over a mile. (The gates at DFW are approximately 100 ft. apart, there are nearly 40 of them on each concourse. If you have to go the full length of AA's two concourses, the walk is approx. 1.5 miles.)

Personally, I'd pack some food in your carryon, just in case. Good luck!
