Hi all! Sorry for the obligatory "dumb question" first post! I'll try harder later :)

I want to have my wedding late 2012 in front of the WDW castle (of course), but I was told that won't be possible for 3 years. So I asked WHY!?! and I haven't heard back from the Disney guy I am hashing things out with in a week - impatient I know. Does anybody know why? Do you usually have to plan 3 years in advance for a castle ceremony?

It is probably because of the Fantasyland building work. Fantasyland is currently undergoing a complete facelift and won't be complete for (probably) three years.
I hope you have many thousands of dollars available to have your actual ceremony in MK. It is extremely expensive and certainly out of the financial reach of the majority of people!!!!
Good luck with your planning!!!

Didn't they recently reduce the minimum to $10,000, though? Still not inexpensive, but it's not exceptionally expensive, now.

That's for a ceremony at the boat landing to the right of the castle not in front of the castle. I don't think that is even an option anymore.

I was also told that they won't allow ceremonies in the MK from September through December because of "decorating and party" issues. :rolleyes1 Don't know if that would apply, though to a big-bucks nighttime wedding with the MK bought-out.

I've heard that they don't allow Magic Kingdom Ceremonies between October- January because of the decorations in the Magic Kingdom. From what I know, they are only done at 8am and only held on certain days so it may be that they don't have availibility for the next three years if all the dates they will allow them to be performed them are booked.

Good luck!

I ended up calling this morning, so I suppose I could have waited one more day to answer this questions - but thanks for answering!

Turns out tinkerbell is dead on - fantasyland construction is in the way. That's for the boat landing next to the castle, they don't do the front of the castle or evening MK weddings anymore.

not at all? or you mean they will again once the fantasyland construction is done?

does anyone have pictures of ceremonies happening in front of the castle?

No they don't do them at all. But that could change again!
